We ordered the octopus salad for lunch and we got half a potato cut in pieces and enough octopus for a 2 yr old to eat for 10.50 each. Needless to say we left starving! A quarter of the plate was filled in. No celery...More

Lovely sharing platters and pasta. Great service - we’re not local and found the pub online but really friendly, helpful service. Sat out in the beer garden behind the pub. Would recommend.

Horrendous evening out. The service was appalling and two of us were served first with the other two guests ten minutes later. My mussels were cold and not very tasty. All in all a terrible experience and will not be returning there in a hurry

We had a marvellous meal today. We were regulars at the old place (English cuisine and very friendly) so decided to revisit. We were very impressed with all the food which included gluten free options. Be warned, the focaccia that comes with the Gran Tagliere...More

We booked in for supper on a Thursday night, with two of our party being vegetarians. This pub has only recently morphed into an Italian specialist. The cooked menu is very good, with staples such as Melanzane, various pasta and risotto. However, the star attraction...More

Just had "lunch" at The Chequers Lamberhurst. Everything Italian and disappointing Very small portion on a shared plate for two, salamis/ olives etc and a bit pricey £18.00 which amounted to four pieces of what they describes as bruchetta (it was not) and cold meats....More

A gloomy, wet Friday night a friend and I found ourselves looking for somewhere to eat in Lamberhurst. We asked at The George and Dragon where they were not serving food and someone said "there's Chequers next door, it's not great but the anti pasti...More

Evidently the new owners have only taken over this lovely pub in Lamberhurst since 13th November 2018. But what a transformation - not an English pub as we knew it but a delicious slice of Italy: ambience, Italian opera music and a wonderful Italian menu....More

Description
Your A-typical Italian Gastropub! A beautiful riverside Gastropub and B&B in the pretty village of Lamberhurst, The Chequers is an Italian oasis in the midst of the Garden of England. This gorgeous Kentish gem has five guest bedrooms where you can relax and unwind, but whether you’re staying the night or not, there’s lots to love about The Chequers: two spacious bars (one of which is dog friendly) are well stocked with exceptional local ales, lagers and the finest Italian wines; a lovely coffee shop provides the best Italian coffee; a beautiful restaurant serves classic favourites and lesser known delicacies from different Italian regions for lunch and dinner; and then, our biggest attraction, our Italian Deli! Dozens of authentic, fresh, Italian cheeses, meats, olives, vegetables and breads to taste in one of our famous platters or to take home with you. And all of this accompanied by some of the best live music Kent (and London!) has to offer. Benvenuti!
