Modern restaurant with great in- outdoor seating and brilliant service. The 3-cours dinner looked and tasted fabulous. I can recommend the modern version of fish and chips; crispy from the outside and perfectly cooked from the inside.

Wow Wow Wow from the moment you enter you get a good feel the resuarant is contemporary chic. The welcome is sincere and the expectations are high. The menu option are mouthwatering and evocative not fussy for fussies sake but interesting mix of textures and...flavours. The chef is an Irishman this was my only disappointment as the meal was so good I had been thinking of proposing. The complementary amuse bouch did just that I was soon sming and my taste buds were dancing. I then has Foie gras a classic that is so seldom available in England my main course was Rabbitt done two ways shredded and place inside a leaf and wrapped in bacon with vegetables and a jui. It was faultless better than some Michelin star restaurants I have eaten in. Do I have hesitation in recommending it absolutely not just dont take my table because I will be back.More

When friends invited us out to dinner and at the same time asked for a recommendation, we had no hesitation in suggesting Le Cottage. Once again Doug, Axelle and their team came up trumps, with everyone having a very enjoyable evening. Starters of salmon cooked...in a water bath, foie gras and langoustines were followed by mains of melt in the mouth Irish beef, Magret cooked just as it was ordered, Merlu done beautifully and an old favourite, Fish & Chips. Desserts didn’t disappoint either, and our hosts - as did we - thoroughly enjoyed their evening. For them, it was the perfect end to their holiday. Here’s to our next visit!More

We visited Le Cottage with some friends and it turned into one of the best meals we have ever had.The ambience was outstanding and the welcome we received was second to none and our dinner from start to finish was one of the best experience...ever The whole meal was superb but the Ganache with Baileys ice cream was to die for. Was recommended to us by a friend, so we reserved for a sunny Monday evening as a perfect start to a Luna Park visit. After a couple of weeks on holidays in France, we were delighted to see « Fish & Chips » as an option on...the menu and I have to say that it was absolutely fantastic, with a beautiful beer batter to die for. English speaking front of house, chef and staff, even though we tried French. Amuse bouche and déserts fantastic, with us not having had starters. Presentation of plates was also typically French art! We are returning this week to introduce to another friend. Just superb and extremely friendly.More

The degustation menu was two starters two mains and two desserts. The starter was good with foie gras and seared tuna, the main course was lamb and fish and dessert was stunning I cannot recommend this restaurant high enough as we went every Saturday for...our 7 week holiday and there always was something new and different to taste. The presentation was stunning as you can see from the photographs.More

We had a lovely meal earlier this evening. Imaginative food very well presented and pleasantly served in a nice, spotless setting. The two ladies serving did fantastically well in translating the menu for us non-french speakers and were delightful throughout. If you like good food...in France but are worried about understanding what’s on offer then this place is for you. Easy parking as well!More

For our first visit in 2019, we were very pleased by the proposed menues for the evening dinner. Two formulas with each a choice between two starters and two main dishes + several desserts if interested. The choice is limited but it's the guarantee that...it is freshly made by the cook. The dinner was excellent and very tasteful. The service is very kind and accurate. Maybe one suggestion, change the menu more often 😊.More

What a wonderful lunch we had. The restaurant decor is fantastic and the food is exquisite. Starting with the Pigs Tail (yes it is and it’s excellent) all the way through desert the entire culinary experience rivals any restaurant in NY, Paris or London. We...recommend this to everyone!More

On a Sunday evening in November we thought Le Cottage might not be too busy - how wrong were we! Although I have reviewed this restaurant several times already, the good news from our viewpoint is that the standard of cooking and presentation remains very...high. So when you get to go again and all is as you would hope, you are not disappointed! On our latest visit we sampled the foie gras and scallops for starters, followed by the venison and sea bass for mains. The cooking and presentation of both courses were of the highest standard, and the desserts followed suit! A plate of delicious chocolate, beautifully complemented by a crunchy brandy snap for me, and a delightful cheesecake for my dining companion. It is rare - in my experience - to find a chef who is equally comfortable with pastry as with savoury dishes, and Chef Doug is definitely in this category. Axelle provides a warm welcome front of house, and continues to do a great job in this equally important aspect of the restaurant business. I have yet to be disappointed in all the times we have eaten at Le Cottage, whether at their previous location in Arces, or since they moved to Vaux-sur-Mer towards the end of last year.More

An excellent meal in every respect. Le Cottage is a real find, clearly growing in well-deserved popularity. It is difficult to find a good restauarant such as this in an area that goes off the boil at the end of the season. Doug and Axelle...are building a reputation that is echoed in the library of reviews on Trippy. A plus point is that they are not tied to the holiday season - they are the go-to place for lovers of fine food, beautifully presented and enhanced by Axelle's consumate front-of-house skills and charm - the wine list is good too - enjoy!More

We visited at the end of September and every table was covered. We have visited Le cottage regularly (first review 2013) and watched the continuing development and we are pleased that the move to new premises appears to be a success. A carpeted floor gives...a relatively quiet service which adds to the ambiance and professional feel to front of house while the open kitchen enables diners to view staff at work. The 42 euro menu was good value for the quality of the cooking, with seasonal veg accompanying both the pidgin and the turbot main courses. The starter, we both had the prawns, and deserts, figs and cheesecake were all excellent. Looking back my original comments were that it would be nice to be reminded of the food on the plate as it is being served. This comment is unfortunately still relevant as it is still necessary to ask (types of bread, names of the cheeses etc) . The restaurant is good but if the team are aspiring to a star then these little things mean such a lot through the inspectors eyes.More

Le Cottage has moved from Arces to Vaux. The big change is the beautiful new dining room, very modern. Doug's food is still excellent and Axelle's welcome as warm as ever. Well worth a visit.
