I went with some friends who are from the area so perhaps the service wasn't an issue because they knew the owner (I did read beforehand some bad reviews about the service). We went for the 'crudo di pesce' and subsequently I ordered a risotto...ai frutti di mare: d e l i c i o u s!!! Only negative note, I would say, it's the price. I know fish is not cheap but we're talking about Sardinia where fresh fish is caught everyday besides it's not like Domus de Maria is an upscale village so you have to pay for the exclusive location.. Anyway, I was very happy with the food!More

BEWARE - It is a con. We went based on a good rating. This was by far the worst restaurant on our trip here. We ordered two plates of shrimp at €18 per plate. On plate of 10 medium shrimp came, €3.60 per shrimp. They...were over cooked and not great quality. We also had the Sea Bass which were small and thin and we questioned whether it was Sea Bass. This was the most disappointing dish. It was not fresh and tasted bad as though not properly cleaned. The Sea Bass at our hotel was amazing and we looked forward to having it again but couldn’t have been more disappointed. There was absolutely nothing served with any of the dishes, literally nothing. We ordered a side green salad and it was Iceberg lettuce chopped up, nothing else. We asked to change it for the mixed salad and they brought the same salad back with one tomato chopped up and some red cabbage. We didn’t touch it and said we didn’t want it but they charged us for both salads anyway. We paid and realised later. I don’t know how they have gotten such good reviews. It makes me wonder whether tourists are treated differently.More

Last year we missed our chance to eat at da Angelo so this year we made a reservation here a week in advance and were very much looking forward to have dinner there. We knew the place from few years before and remembered the food...and service were decent. When we arrived for our 8pm reservation, the inside room was 90% empty and they showed us to the outside terrace which was a tiny tiled court uncovered and with no ventilation. It had been a really hot day (+40 Celsius) and it was still very hot around 32C. We tried to explain it was very uncomfortable to stay and eat outside in a court that has been sun exposed all day and asked if they could accommodate us inside. They rudely replied that since we made the reservation only one week in advance, we should have not expected to be seated inside where there was air conditioning. And if we don't want to stay outside, we could leave. So we left. We travel quiet a lot but we have never ever been treated that way any country we visited. Given there are so many other good choices to eat around Chia, Trattoria da Angelo should not be on any tourist must visit list, unless they want to spoil their vacation.More

The place is a typical Trattoria, the service is quick and informal. We had fish appetizers - tasty although with a lot of olive oil - and Fregola (red version). The menu is not infinite but this is good, you get only fresh fish. A...very good baked pecorino cheese with honey too. And the price is very reasonable. A place to come back!More

Attention - if you are a tourist and do not want to spoil your holiday, then you should not visit this restaurant!!! I reserved a table in the restaurant last year by phone. We had to drive 30 minutes to get to the restaurant. As...we entered the restaurant, the owner's son was filling the fridge. We greeted politely but the junior ignored us and kept working in the fridge, showing us his back. A table was occupied, otherwise only a large table for many people was prepared but empty. I wondered where we should sit. At some point the junior took pity and turned to us. We were already 2 minutes in the restaurant without anyone caring about us. I told him we had reserved a table. He answered extremely rude that no table was reserved in my name and they had no table for us. I insisted on the reservation and he called his father. He was a bit friendlier but also claimed that we had not made a reservation. I showed him the number on my phone's display but he said the number was not the one from the restaurant. Funny that I had made a reservation on this number and that was the same number as stated on the Internet. Anyway, we had to go. An apology did not follow. I assume that we have been "booked out" for the large guest table of familiar Italian customers. In my view a huge sour and a major f**k up. I have eaten in the restaurant before and the food is really good, but after a friend of mine had also made a very negative experience with the restaurant owners and we have spoiled the evening, I can only recommend to anyone, not to eat here. There is quite a high risk you will regret even calling "Da Angelo". The unfriendly behavior of the son was unworthy of the otherwise typical hospitality of the Sardinians. Me and my parents have been coming to Sardinia since the seventies, we have not experienced such a rude behavior yet...More

We went to this restaurant because of the good reviews. Unforutately, I cannot confirm them. As I am not a fish enthusiast my only choice was the beef. I asked what comes as a side dish and the answer was either pasta or salad. In...the end I received plain beef which was super tough and awful. When I asked for the sides they offered me the salad which was charged extra. My girlfriend had a mixed fish anti pasti and it was average. Moreover, the staff was unfriendly, so all in all we regret choosing this place.More

Angelo seems to prefer catering locals than visitors, so be prepared for a visit which may leave you feeling unwelcome, even if it doesn't leave you hungry... You WILL need a reservation - we were turned away the first time, and when we did make...a reservation we saw groups of up to 5 people being turned away because they hadn't pre-booked. Don't expect a warm welcome, more of a slightly hostile reception, and don't expect to get the food you ask for either! For Italian speakers there seems to be no menu, you just ask for whatever they are serving that day. We were given (un-asked for) an English menu, which bore no relation to what other people seemed to be offered. The emphasis here is on fish and seafood, so although we ordered the meat and cheese antipasti, we received a lot of fish - which was pretty tasty, but not what we had expected or particularly wanted! For mains, a fish trolley is wheeled out and you can pick a specific fish, and the sea bream and king prawns we ordered we beautifully cooked - obviously incredibly fresh - but were served without any sides or garnishes (unlike what we saw at other tables). Perhaps we needed to order these separately, but there was no option or indication of this. If you aren't into fish, steer clear! They also don't accept credit cards, so be sure to have cash available. In all, an unsatisfying visit, where the food was was the best thing but the service and atmosphere badly lacking. Tourists (or non-Italian speakers) are clearly not Angelo's target market.More

Perfect location by the sea and we were warmly greeted. Got wrong antipasti, but liked them though. We chose the fish of the day for the mains to be served with pasta. The dish was disappointing as it did not have much fish (4 small...thumb-sized pieces each) in it and furthermore lacked taste. The biggest disappointment was when we were tried to charge 900 grams of fish - although we were served max. 200 grams in total. Too bad as we would have loved to like this place. The location is perfect, but it's a shame the experience and the way they handle the customers does not rise up to the expectations. A small word of advice: the customer is not necessarily dumm although he/she speaks another language.More
