Don’t be put off by the exterior, it’s not shiny and pristine it’s where the locals go when work is done to eat the best Iberico secreto. Little English is spoken and I’m not sure many tourists go but you really won’t regret it. Local...game, lamb chops etc freshly barbecued and served with chips, that’s it. Simple food cooked brilliantly by people who care, can’t ask for more.More

Best lamb chops for miles around, at the best price and cooked to perfection over wood. Not to mention succulent and enormous pork chops, steaks, rabbit, goat and chicken. Not for vegetarians

Went there for dinner but after one drink we left. It just looks not clean or hygienic. Didn't feel any pleasant welcome. Pictures of the food looks amazing but can not rate that because we didn't eat here.

We passed this restaurant several times and as the sign indicated meat from the bbq we decided to stop for diner. Also the large number of local cars were an indication to us that there had to be something good to eat at this restaurant....Just look beyond the entrance and either sit inside in the restaurant or walk through the restaurant to the very large terrace at the back that also holds the bbq. We ordered a pork chop (as mentioned in other reviews you wonder about the size of the pig where this was coming from) and chicken fillet. Both were prepared on the bbq and were very tasteful. Definitely a restaurant to revisit!More

We have been coming to this restaurant for around 13 years, most recently for lunch during "Semana Santa". It is located just outside of Orgiva, adjacent to the bridge over the River Guadalfeo, and adequate parking is available in the somewhat scruffy car park at...the front of the premises. The "Venta" appears equally scruffy, but meat loving visitors should not be deterred, as this place offers enormous portions of some of the best quality pork and beef available in the area, all cooked in a wood-fired "brasa". Other meat selections are available, as well as salads, "revueltos" (scrambled eggs with ham and vegetables) and, on occasions, fish including "bacalao" in a tomato based sauce and a "fritura" of assorted fish. Local (strong!) wine is available by the litre or half-litre carafe, at a very reasonable price and there is also a selection of desserts, including traditional favourites such as "natillas". In summary, this is a very traditional, authentic and unsophisticated Alpujarran "Venta" (roadside inn), which is all about meat in huge portions at very reasonable prices. Our most recent bill was around Euros 50 for a shared starter of "bacalao", huge portions of lamb chops, desserts and, to drink, a half litre of wine plus water and coffees. Recommended, but for meat lovers only!More

Fran, the owner, chef, waiter, barman and bottle-washer is a master of his "brasa"..and oven in a hole in thw wall eith carefully tended wooden fire to one side. He manages to produce perfectly cooked steak, pork chops, lamb chops, chicken breasts, goat, and occasionally...wild boar every time. And his portions! All I can say is that I wouldn't want to meet one of the pigs he gets the chops from on a dark night! They are huge! And he runs out of the big ones you get two smaller ones... No frills sort of place..and no frills sort of prices. Very drinkable local wines, a fire to toast one's toes over in winter...and convivial company. Tell him Ingles Juan sent you! Padre de Lily and Charlie!More

It was a few months ago we went there and had lunch. We had been down at the river paddling. I ordered chuletas de cordero and my wife ordered gazpacho, It seemed to take an age to come, we had a second drink while waiting....The lamb chops were small (as expected) but pretty greasy and accompanied by chips, they tasted ok. The gazpacho was ok. The service was appalling the plates were thrown down on our table and It seemed to be a massive chore for the waiter to do anything for us . There were many flies inside and outside. I doubt if we will go back there in a hurry.More

Had an hour to kill before meeting the host of the little finca we had rented and hadn't had lunch yet. Just as we turned of the main road and crossed the bridge towards Orgiva we saw this little non-descript restaurant. A bit run down...from the outside, no real sign and no visible name, but hey we were hungry and this looked like food... And food we had. Good food. This place specializes in meat or brasa as it's called here. BIG portions of grilled meat served with fries. I'm happy we only ordered a salad as a starter because this was more meat than I have seen in a long time. Delicious meat. The girls had grilled lamb chops - 6 huge chops each - and I had the secret - secreto - meat which was pork - delicious pork - but not a cut I could recognize. There must have been 5-600 grams of meat on my plate and only a €12 price tag. Great place to stop for lunch and I'm happy that we didn't let the run down looks stop us.More

We stopped here because we'd been driving for hours and getting desperate to eat... Yes, it looked a bit like part of a farm but we were hungry and thirsty. Iced glasses of beer and liver and potato tapas were excellent, waiter quick and helpful,...wood fired oven a great way to cook. We had pork fillet and salad - great. We came back another time for more of the same... A bit dirty? Maybe but the food was good and there can be dirt you don't get to see in the best of places. Worth stopping.More
