Having visited this restaurant a number of time in recent years, I thought it would be fun to have an impromptu visit and relish the little known pleasure of very good, and inexpensive, French cuisine iwthin an affordable casual pub experience. On our way to...More

After many really enjoyable meals at the Giant’s Rest over the years we were so disappointed by our most recent visit this weekend. It was only after we ordered a round of drinks that we were told there’d be a 45 minute wait for food....More

Friendly staff, great beers, and the best Sunday lunch I've had in these parts, Bring your appetite - and leave room for the home-made puds!

When first confronted with menu thought choice was limited but changed our minds when our selections were put in front of us. Our starters were delicious - King Prawns for one, Mackerel Pate the other choice - followed by Steak and Ale Pie, and Mediterranean...More

Title says it all really! Lovely pub with convivial hosts and clientele. Local pale ale compared very favourably with my usual Reet Pale Sheffield tipple and the sausages were sublime! Oh and we won the monthly quiz!!

Unfortunately the new owners have turned the place into a bit of a cash cow. This used to be my favourite place to eat, serving fresh tasty meals with plenty of choice. We turned up on a Sunday and there was no specials, a tiny...More

Hi, I'm sorry you were disappointed with your latest visit to The Giants Rest. I am particularly interested in your comment regarding the lack of specials, AND our Aldi wines ! We run a slightly smaller menu on a Sunday, but always have at least...More

A recent change of ownership is obvious as soon as you walk into the pub. Obviously things have changed and generally does appear to be smarter deco and the outside has scaffolding so presumably this is also being facelifted. We decided to go with the...More

Agreed to meet friends there, being fairly convenient, and my wife having enjoyed a lunch there previously. Although quite a pleasant place, the atmosphere was lacklustre to say the least! When we looked at the menus and blackboard specials, the options were so limited that...More

Yes they are , there were a couple of dogs around the bar when we visited, kid friendly too and they did not mind the grown ups either , definitely worth a visit.
