The two waitresses here were very friendly and good-humoured. The atmosphere was pleasantly informal- with stools at the bar made (I think) from wooden wine-cases with legs added- and the food was fine. My wife then left behind her silk scarf and only realised this after we walked on next day (we were doing a 75 k trail). When we... More

This was a pleasant restaurant with very nice ambience, both the waiter and waitress who served us were very nice and helpful. Service was somewhat slow though with a significant delay between first plate and second. My wife had veal which was quite fatty and a little under cooked and I had lamb cutlets which were charred to a point... More

Dear jaemichael, we are sorry that your experience was not so good, you could make it clear to staff that the lamb was overcooked, we would definitely have remade. The veal belly that we have in our menu has a low-temperature baking for about 12 hours, and is naturally a meat cutting fat. We hope to see you again, thanks.... More

We were a large group of 17 walkers and had prebooked, as a large group the restaurant asked us to pre-order from a group menu, which is fair and usual for big groups. The stuffed courgette flowers were a delight, the tripe was very tasty, the pasta was fresh and delicious, wild boar with juniper berries was full flavoured and... More

We visited today with the group of Seventeen walkers . Our numbers changed over the previous 24 hours but this did not faze super group of young people running this restaurant. With a pre-arranged fixed menu of a couple of choices they produced the most superb food excellent service and if you've never had tripe this is the place to... More

We were staying at the nearby Albergo Le Terme and booked into this restaurant for dinner on our second night there. The service was very pleasing, staff friendly and helpful with menu. The wine list is quite comprehensive and reasonable prices. The meal was delicious, the ingredients fresh and wonderfully presented. Overall a great evening.

Delicious food at reasonable price, very good wines, charming atmosphere and very kind service. Garden and terrace, also very cosy inside in autumn and winter.

We booked a table here through Fork, went there in time, but as we waited for someone to come and have us seated, nobody was interested. Waited at least 5 minutes, even looked at the menus, but no. We took of, and went to La Parata right opposite, which was a good decision!

Good Morning JPOL6, in Osteria del Leone the service during summer season is made in the garden and on the terrace, if you had the foresight to get to the garden would be as well received as all our satisfied customers. I realize that in Finland it is hard to eat outside but thankfully happens in Tuscany. Antonio Cassisi More

We checked the website. Open for lunch until 3. We arrived yesterday at 2.35 having driven from Pienza. They said the kitchen is closed and wouldn't take us - and rudely. I wish we had remained in Pienza. Bagno Vignoni is not worth the trip - and Osteria del Leone is rude and unhelpful. On our way out we looked... More

Good morning Michael H, our kitchen closes almost every day even after hours on the website, only sporadically when the service ends early we close before. The thing that we are sorry and that you could call us before leaving Pienza, we would certainly welcome you. We hope you can return soon and change your severe judgment. Thanks. Located in the refreshing, modern buildings in the traditional style, yet ancient (dating back to the Francigena pilgrims and the Romans) spa village of Bagno Vignoni, this osteria has Michelin stickers on its door from 2009 through 2016, testifying to the quality of the food here. My spaghetti with Vino Nobile wine sauce was outstanding, and my wife's ravioli with... More

Description
The Osteria del Leone, as documents testify, has always been part of the life of this ancient village. Located in one of the town’s oldest houses on the corner of Via dei Mulini and the square with the thermal pool, it has four welcoming, hospitable rooms and an enclosed garden, able to seat a total of 70 people. The restaurant is characterized by a large entrance area with an antique bar, followed by three comfortable, brightly-colored rooms decorated with local nineteenth-century furniture and spacious, well-appointed tables set a reasonable distance apart, accommodating up to 40 people. In the summer, a pleasant inside garden, cool, well-kept, and protected from the elements, can hold another 30 people. The menu features flavorful typical Tuscan cooking and changes more or less monthly to keep up with the changing seasons, but always maintaining some “classics,” local specialties like the hand-rolled long strands of pasta called “pici,” served for example with garlic sauce, or perfectly grilled Florentine beefsteak, according to some connoisseurs among the best in the area. A variety of goat’s-milk and sheep’s-milk Tuscan cheeses and homemade desserts, accompanied by a nice selection of dessert wines and liqueurs, bring the meal to a close. The wine list contains about 250 labels, with a broad selection of the best Tuscan wines. Montalcino and Montepulciano are well-represented, of course, but other fine Italian wines are not neglected; all the wines can also be bought in the nearby Enoteca del Leone. The staff is very courteous, young and pleasantly informal.
