Don’t buy into the line outside this restaurant. The food was below average, i make better pasta at home with more taste. SOO bland, terrible service, and high prices for no reason. Service was so slow and terrible. Would never ever go again. Calamari was...bland and worst I’ve had. The seafood pasta with red sauce was terribly bland as well as the seafood risottoMore

Visited Marcello’s last night. The restaurant was busy which was a good sign & even though we hadn’t pre-booked a table they had no problem getting us a table to seat 7. The staff were really friendly & attentive & there was a good atmosphere....Food we all ordered a starter. 3 of us had the focaccia bread with pesto & pancetta which was delicious, one had soup, one had pâté & 2 had the garlic bread all said were very nice. Mains most of us had pizza which I have to say were amazing. I had the one with mozzarella & rocket & I added some prosciutto. One had cannelloni, one had pasta arrabiata & one had lasagne again all really well cooked & tasty. Drinks we ordered a bottle of chianti & a bottle of Sauvignon and both were very nice. All in all a very enjoyable dining experience & would highly recommend a visit. We will definitely be back before the end of our holiday.More

We queued to get a table so thought we were set for a lovely evening. Unfortunately it was so busy the service suffered. My partner and I ordered calamari to start and it was so tough we couldn’t eat it. We sat with virtually the...entire starter left on our plates and it was only when our main arrived, I was able to tell the waiter. He asked if we wanted another but we were so put off we said no and just to remove from the bill….plus our main had arrived! We both had pizza and both were delicious. I would return but just go for the pizza and a nice glass of wine. We waited a while for our bill to arrive and the calamari hadn’t been removed so I had to ask the waitress to remove it as we were unable to eat it. She didn’t argue and returned the bill minus our starters. It’s quite blowing in the evening too so be careful! We both lost the last of our wine as our glasses blew over! My poor partner ended up wearing mine and his glass smashed and the table wore his! All in all, not an overly successful night!More

I visited this italian on Tues 7th Sept and it wasn't so busy that i had to queue to get in. On arrival i had to ask for a wine list when waitress came to take our food order. Once wine and food was ordered...we received a basket of bread with a flavoured butter and an oil dip. As soon as my partner took a piece of bread and put the butter on he saw a long dark hair on what he was about to eat. Fortunately the wine arrived and we showed staff the hair - the bread basket was removed, with an "I'm sorry" and a new bread basket arrived which we really didnt want! I had starter of pancetta crostini which was nice. Then our mains arrived, a pizza for my partner which was perfect and delicious! Lasagne for me - it was not good, with an inch of thick stodgy white sauce on top that tasted completely of flour that hadnt been cooked out properly! The pasta was also hard, not cooked nearly enough. I ate 3 forkfuls and stopped. No one came to ask if our meal was ok. We waited a long time before anyone came to lift our plates - in my opinion the staff were avoiding our table because it was clear a complaint was coming. When a waitress came she asked if everything was ok, i said no and she asked nothing else. I offered her the info re the poor lasagne and asked for the bill. The bill still had the lasagne on it and i had to ask to speak to the manager. I explained the hair and the reasons lasagne was inedible and told him his staff clearly didnt care! He told me he wouldnt charge the lasagne. I paid and left very disappointed indeed! Oh and hungry! If you are going to eat here then order a pizza and dont expect good service! There are better italian restaurants in Protaras!More

The food was really good. I had the Lamb Shank. The wine was good (excellent Chianti). The service was what let the experience down. We had our starter. Very nice. Our main courses were delivered and the waiter immediately disappeared. I had to get up...to ask for cutlery as I couldn’t get the attention of any of the waiters/waitresses. I also had to get the attention of staff to ask for Parmesan for my daughters main course and again to ask for additional drinks. Neither arrived until we were halfway through the main course. The food was very good. The price wasn’t too bad either. The service let the experience down though. I didn’t pay a tip for service because of the lack of attention to simple but important aspects of a dining out experience.More

A queue outside and most tables full indicates to me a very popular and high quality restaurant. In that basis I feel a little disappointed. My Mozarella, Pesto and Tomato type Bruschetta was delicious, but my girlfriends Garlic Bread Foccacia was dry and overpowering. Starters...came at the same time as the mains as well, which for me is a massive no no. Especially after we had to wait a long time to order initial drinks (we ordered food at the same time because it took so long). Whilst I can understand they want to play catch up so to speak, courses are their for a reason. Our experience shouldn’t be rushed because they didn’t look after us well enough. With regards to the mains, my Seafood Linguine (I ordered tagliatelle but hey ho) lacked the amount of fish I’d expect to pay for the price and once that was gone it was just an overly rich tomato sauce and pasta. I sadly did not finish it. My girlfriend didn’t enjoy her Carbonara Linguine to begin with but it grew on her as her meal went on. I think that’s more to do with personal preference towards the cream/dairy products used in Cypriot restaurants though. Service was short, no real attempt at rapport made, but sadly we’ve experienced that a lot during our time in Protaras. It would seem in many places, including Marcellos, that British guests are not as welcome as local friends. It’s a shame but it did sadly taint the experience. I imagine there are other better Italian restaurants to go to on the island.More

We visited in August and had to wait a bit to get a table but it was worth it, as the food was excellent and the service was very good. We would recommend trying the pizzas there.
