We booked two apartments for two nights and are having our second meal in the hotel restaurant. The first meal was a barely eatable ham pizza, an inedible veggie pizza, a tomato-sauce pasta where they forgot to add the pasta (but they corrected it and...added the pasta so I guess - kudos!), a decent burger and amazing jäger bombs. We came back for the jäger bombs and after waiting 15mjns for the drinks, we were asked to come back to the bar, pay for the drinks and carry the 6 drinks back to the table ourselves. All of which was still okay except they mixed the jäger and red bull AND added ice. They were also exceptionally rude about the whole thing and asked us “do you still want food?”, which we obviously declined. Would not recommend coming here for the food or the service but the temperature in the restaurant is nice if that’s all you look for in a place to eat.More
Our holiday package included half board options so we ate here every night.
The food wasn’t the best to be completely fair but maybe that’s because it was buffet style. But all the food was warm and had a unique kind of taste to it....Which wasn’t very pleasing.
I lived on pate and bread and cheese and crackers, and my husband just had chips and cake 🙈
There wasn’t much option available to say a cold day in the snow had been had for all, it mainly consisted of cold salads and a bowl of seafood coated in a thick oil, pates, 1 meat option, boiled potatoes, chips, carrots, cheese and crackers and the same cake nightly.
Even the ‘Gala’ dinner was exactly the same just in a different room.
The breakfast was slightly better with more options available, cereals, fruit, toast, hot breakfast items (beans sausages etc) eggs, cold meats and fresh juices.
Even though it wasn’t the best we didn’t go hungry!
The staff were friendly and the restaurant was always kept clean too.More
Being a non meat eater was a bit limiting but the prawns and the red snapper stew was lovely. Lots of nice fresh salad too. As it was Christmas time there were a load of children around but they just Stuck to the chicken nuggets...and chips!More
Just went here for som late night drinks.
The bartender was nice and knew how to make good drinks.
Up stairs there were dancing going on. Which is a big thing in Finland. Then I mean like grown up dancing, not like the discos you...have other places.
Seemed like they had fun.
You can also eat here, but we just stayed for drinks.More
Rooms clean, big, beds very comfortable, loads of hot water, excellent sauna. Drying room very welcoming for wet ski clothes,
Good location, breakfast offers good choice. Overall a decent hotel.
Average: Food at dinner is a varied but not haute cuisine, always a...good salad a fish and meat choice with couple of deserts. We were here for 4 nights and it was fine but wouldn’t have wanted it any longer.
Drinks typical Saariselkä prices (wine €14 for large glass). Dinner served in restaurant across the road which didn’t suit some people but we were ok with this.
Overall: a decent hotel set in the village, good access to ski centre 20 minute walk away. We would use this hotel again but my preference would be the holiday village as there was no life at all in the hotel, bar was closed all week, no staff about, it felt like apartments with a breakfast buffet.More
We came here several times during our time when we lived here for food and it was pretty consistent the whole time. Drinks quite expensive, but similar to anything you would pay in the rest of the resort. Food was delicious, tried a bit of...everything- goats cheese salad was perfect, pizzas are delicious (and available to take away), burgers were delicious as well and i like my bacon crispy and they did that for me more than once, the wanderers dream is a steak in a buttery curry type sauce which was cooked perfectly every time - not an inch of fat on it any time and the potatoes were delicious! Friendly staff as well, although seemed sometimes they were understaffed, stayed happy but could mean a bit of a wait to get served. Wouldn't mark them down for it though as it was delicious and lovely atmosphere!More
The restaurant for our half board evening meal was in this hotel. It was terrible. The same food day in day out, barely warm and ridiculously expensive. It was €4 for a glass of orange. The only included drink was water, tea and coffee. We...will come back to this resort as it’s fantastic but won’t go to this hotel or restaurant.More
