We were staying at a nearby hotel on a half board basis. The food there (Hotel Tunturi) was not great so a couple of evenings we wandered along the road to try out other restaurants.
We found this place on our last evening, and what a treat to end our stay with!
My husband and I ordered the reindeer fillet, beautifully presented and everything was cooked perfectly and delicious.
Our two children had burgers and both cleared their plates.
Desserts were equally as delicious, two panda cottas, a blueberry cheesecake and ice cream.
Service was welcoming, friendly, efficient and helpful.
The waiter took time to explain items on the bill (we didn’t query it, he was just helping with the language barrier).
So glad we found this place, just wish we had done so sooner so we could’ve enjoyed more of the menu!

The place is split in three sections: a "club", a bar and a restaurant. We were seated in the restaurant area. Atmosphere is cozy, staff is nice. Mains around 20-30€. Food is great! Ordered the reindeer filet: it was perfectly on point and tender. The ribs' consistency reminded me of beef jerky but they were super tasty. Also the sides and the sauce were great. Fully recommended!

We were celebrating a special occasion with my husband to be. Service was friendly, on point and throughout excellent. Starter fish plate was tasty. Only hope was that house bread would have been rye bread. As makn course we took reindeer file and slow cooked reindeer. Main course supeised, well sized portions and reindeer cooked to perfection. Very nice flavours! Dessert didn’t dissapoint either, bluebarru cheesecake was full of flavour.
All in all had a lovely evening with good food!
Sama lyhyesti suomeksi: loistava palvelu ja maukas, hyvin tehty ruoka. Pääruoka-annokset reilun kokoisia ja poro kypsennetty erinomaisesti.

We arrived at the restaurant just before rush hour. We managed to make our order before the people arriving after us did, but they served the people who had ordered after us first. We ended up waiting for our main course for more than an hour and the people who came and ordered after us had already eaten theirs. I asked the waitress if the kitchen had forgotten us, but she just bluntly said that everyone gets their food in order. Which wasn't the case as we saw the people arriving and ordering after us and getting their main course before us. A simple "sorry" would have saved everything, but the waitress decided to lie.
The waitress was very rude but the food was very nice. Unfortunately we didn't want to stay for dessert after our poor experience.
Saavuimme ravintolaan juuri ennen ruuhkaa, mutta ehdimme tilata ennen kuin ravintola täyttyi. Jouduimme odottelemaan pääruokaa yli tunnin ja totesimme, että naapuripöytä, johon ihmiset saapuivat ja tilasivat meidän jälkeemme, oli saanut jo oman pääruokansa. Kysyin tarjoilijalta, oliko keittiö kenties unohtanut meidät, mutta hän totesi vain, että kaikki saavat ruokansa järjestyksessä. Sanoin, että näin ei ollut mennyt, jolloin hän totesi tarkistavansa ja tuli sitten kertomaan, että saamme ruokamme seuraavaksi. Sanallakaan hän ei pahoitellut eikä varsinkaan myöntänyt virhettä. Saimme ruokamme siinä vaiheessa, kun jälkeemme saapuneet ja tilanneet naapuripöydän asiakkaat olivat jo syöneet pääruokansa.
Tarjoilijan tylyn käytöksen ja luokattoman asiakaspalvelun takia jälkiruoka jäi nauttimatta. Harmi, koska alku- ja pääruuat olivat erinomaisia. Huono kohtelu valitettavasti pilasi kokemuksen ja illan. Yksi pahoittelu olisi riittänyt pelastamaan mokan, mutta sellaista ei meille suotu.

Restaurant Teerenpesä is nothing too fancy, but let's face it, sometimes that's just what you need. If you're looking for a basic pub style dish, this is the place to go. We had sautéed reindeer and a steak, and they were just what the menu promised. Service was friendly and the fireplace made a nice atmosphere. I would have liked more variety in vegetarian or vegan dishes, and the price range was a bit high-ish at least for these basic dishes.

can’t understand the good ratings for these restaurant. We ordered the Caesar salad house style (9,90 Euro) , the cheese burger and the Fried vendaces (18,90 Euro). The Caesar salad includes three lettuce leafs with a few croutons and pieces of Parmesan. It was to less for 9,90 Euro. For these price you should become a bowl of salad. The fried vendaces was also disappointing, because the side dish, mashed potatoes wasn’t self made. It wasn’t even highly quality bought.

After a long day of traveling we decided to have a decent meal. The general welcoming feel as we walked in, to be followed by excellent service was wonderful. The three course meal accompanied by the house wine was excellent. Would absolutely recommend the reindeer fillet ....... a meat eater’s delight! Well done.... an excellent all round achievement.

We were so thrilled to stumble upon this place on our way to our resort. It was a great mix of local fare and hearty portions! The cocktails were great as well and incorporated local flavors like blueberry and cloudberry. Wonderful service too! They were very kind in explaining the dishes to us as tourists in the country and provided great recommendations.

Wow! This restaurant is amazing, the decor is lovely, the staff so so friendly, and the best freshest food ever. Better than top London restaurants in my opinion. We want to come back just to have a meal here again it’s that’s good. If you’re in saariselka please visit this place you won’t be disappointed. It’s situated a little further past the holiday inn Hotel and the gift shop. It’s a beautiful place and they are so lovely to us all making us feel very welcome xx
I really hope we can go back next year for two days just to do some tobogganing and go for a meal here xx

Restaurant Pub Teerenpesä sounds like a pub which is also serving some food, but this is not the case. They have both a pub and a full fledged restaurant, which is serving excellent food. Restaurant is offering typical finnish gourmet food including the reindeer and trout dishes, which are mandatory in Lapland. The location is a nice log house with simple but functional decoration and relaxed atmosphere. Price level is reasonable, specially considering the quality of food. Warm recommendation for Teerenpesä.

Very nice place... typical wood and stone cladding with a lit fireplace. In the center of the town. We ate typical dishes accompanied by the chatter of the very friendly and helpful owner... I would certainly go back.

Our plane was delayed so we arrived very late and had not eaten anything yet. We arrived at 10:45 PM and after some explanation we were able to get a meal that was also delicious. Very friendly staff.
Later in the week we had dinner here again. The food is very good and it is very cozy.

After several days in the wilderness, our family group (Grandfather, two sons and two grandsons) wanted something other to eat than dried meals and hard bread. Teerenpesä Restaurant and Pub was near so there we went.
The pub customers were mostly sitting on the outside terrace but we went inside as the evening was approaching. The menu included those local delicacies we were interested in: reindeer and trout. The adults chose reindeer filet and sauteed trout, the boys both reindeer stew
The food was piping hot when arriving and very tasty. The wine choice was limited but adequate and the service very good.
This is a restaurant to be recommended when visiting Saariselkä!

Loved the atmosphere here from the moment we entered. Very homey and welcoming. Had a great meal with DH. We split the salmon soup, risotto and grilled reindeer. Honestly everything was perfectly cooked and delicious. Only slightly minor complaint was that they served all 3 dishes at once. We eat fast so it was still hot when we finished. Discovered Finnish long drink and had a few of those at the bar area after our meal as well. That side of the place was also really nice. Had our hotel book the reservation for us since they only take reservations via phone. If you could book online the place would probably be perfect!

Nearly full house, but we were seated right after arriwing, even though arriwing few minutes before our reservation began. The food was excellent and beautiful, flavours and amount of ingredients were in balans. The service was kind and professional. Atmosphere and general feeling were all excellent. Great value for money.
