I love love this place ! Jennifer and Katoosh are so warm and welcoming ! I walked past last night on my walk and saw this cute place great aura just rebuilt after the hurricane ! As it was wiped out ! On the beach with hammocks and the food was out of this world ! The pumpkin soup was the best I’ve ever had !! Wow

If you are in Portsmouth, check out the Iguana Cafe. The food was very good, but the best part is the kindness of the owners, the view, and the cats running around :) It's a small restaurant that seats probably 12 people maximum. It overlooks the ocean, and the kitchen is open to check out. The food is fresh and they make it from the menu or to order. The bread and tiny cakes that come out in the beginning of the meal is the best part!

My husband and I had a big lunch here after exploring the Indian River. We had the place to ourselves and the owner's were wonderfully accommodating. We had the most delicious meal with impeccable service with beautiful views of the water! Can't wait to go back here again for more lobster. We had conch salad, tuna tar tar and tons of lobster!

Jennifer and Cartouche have been running this spot for about 5 years now, and to say that Jennifer makes some of the best food on the island is not an exaggeration. Calalou soup is a must, and make sure to ask what they've got on hand for seafood - you'll probably want the lobster or swordfish if they're available. They buy from local fishermen, so it's fresh. Better yet, call ahead and make a reservations with them, so they know what you're after. They'll do their best to have it! Great view from the restaurant out on to the Prince Rupert Bay. The setting isn't fancy like some spots, nor is it a true beach bar - but it's probably our favorite meal of the trip. Great food, and great people.

This rasta couple really know how to cook a meal! It looks a little rundown from the outside, but I assure you the food is excellent and the inside is extremely clean. The tuna appetizer and the lobster main course was enough food for 2 people to share, and was mouth watering good!

After last night's dinner a morning dive was in order to equal it all out. An amazing dinner at the Iguana Cafe here in Dominica. The sunset from this tiny, two table, true "mom & pop" restaurant was out of this world...... Pop waited the table, Mom cooked......For desert we got a big hug and heart felt thank you ❤️ Best desert ever ❤️

The Iguana Cafe had been recommended by several locals, so we had to try it. We made reservations and were met at the door by the owner Catouch and Jennifer...lovely, cordial people. We were the only diners that night but we were treated royally. The cafe is very small and rather non-descript from the outside. Some travelers might be dissuaded from going there from the outward appearance but do not fear...it was safe and clean. The inside is decorated with a variety of interesting collectibles from the ocean and elsewhere. We drank the local beer, Kubuli, and were brought bread, garlic butter and sorrel jam......a Christmas specialty on the island, freshly prepared by Jennifer. Catouch told us the story of the sorrel and its importance at Christmas. The story was charming and the treat was delicious! We were flattered to have shared in this tradition. I ordered the crayfish-----delicious and perfectly prepared. My husband had the octopus-----also very good but a little chewy. The sauce on both dishes was excellent. I would highly recommend this cafe.....just know that it is VERY casual and the amenities sparse but it is local and that is where we like to eat when we travel.

Wonderful local food in a shack clinging to the water! The food is fresh and tasty and the rum punch is good.

The best local food you can find on Dominica. You need to make reservations. Onetime we were lucky. When we wanted to come back they were closed. We wanted to taste so much more. Great dishes. With lots of flavour.

Decided to try the Iguana Cafe with friends on Friday night. The restaurant looks like a typical Dominican local bar/shack, located on the sea front. I started with a prawn salad, which was divine, and a serious sized portion. The salad was accompanied with a bowl of cooked gooseberry, which was a surprise, and delicious. My main course was local lobster cooked in a creole sauce, with coconut, which was simply amazing. Without doubt this was the best meal that I have eaten since arriving in Dominica 6 weeks ago. The decor is very simple and humble, but very authentic. All the food was cooked in front of the customers, with great passion and attention to detail. I seriously recommend the Iguana Cafe to all.

Great, great lunch. Host was great too. Soup as local as was the main crayfish salad. Doesn't look like much from the road. Once inside it is warm and clean.

We finished up an Island River tour and asked our guide where a good place for local cuisine would be and he said, I know just the place. He took us to this little bungalow that didn't look like much from the outside but the service was great. We didn't call ahead but our guide took us right in and introduced us to the owners family. They called the owners and they came down to cook for us. Of course, we waited a bit because we didn't call ahead but while we waited the owner's sister served us fresh bread with the best, fresh sorrel jam I've ever had. There were great views while we waited as well. The sauce they used in our dishes (grilled barracuda and vegetarian pasta) was phenomenal. You won't be disappointed but definitely call ahead!

We expected a little restaurant with a fisherman price, well if you take the lobster, and I strongly recommand you to do so, it will be expensive but it really worth it! It's a really small restaurant, the owners are really kind, and the bob marley music will make you cool!
