We went to Zafferana the weekend of the Sagra di Fungi (mushroom festival). I was looking forward to eating porcini mushrooms and was told that this was a very good restaurant. We ordered the traditional fried pizza calzone with porcini mushrooms and Veal steak with porcini mushrooms. How disappointed were we to be served frozen catering style porcini mushrooms. They... It's too pricey for what you get. We ordered salad and some pasta. Pasta tasted OK but the portion size was not enough. There was a bit of tuna in the salad, but not enough to taste it. I would avoid it next time. On the other hand, ambience is nice and staff is polite.

My wife and I had diner at this restaurant. As starter we took the mix of various starters. Already the starter was almost a full meal with great local dishes and ham. As main course we took pizza. One with ceps and th other one with San Daniele ham. Both were well prepared and served correctly. This together with a... More

The food was really great here, the staff friendly and the prices reasonable. Sitting on the upper outside wooden deck, enjoying the food and watching the little town bustle about its evening business was magical. We ate there three times.

This place looks very sophisticated and clearly has a varied men and wine list. We wandered in for a Friday lunch before a last relax and the packing for home. The starter was average although my wife's griliata mista de pesce did have a wonderfully cooked piece of swordfish and squid and 2 large prawns. The service was very so... More

Wasn't overly impressed with this place. Good location and good food, but perhaps overpriced on reflection.

As we drove back to our hotel from Mt. Etna, we stopped here for lunch. We were welcomed warmly and ordered an eggplant dish, a "fried Sicilian pizza" and the house red wine. All were delicious. We would definitely give it a try for dinner as well, based on our experience.

Very good food all the way. We did not always feel at ease as tourists with the dressed-up business men at the other tables who got more attention... Very nice restaurant, great food but a little stiff for tourists in jeans and t-shirt. Pricey, but you get what you paid for.

If Zafferana Etnea were a bit closer to Vigata, Montalbano would go to Gli Aragona every day. The prices were astonishingly low for the delicious food, wine, and deserts. We had vegetarian and fish dishes, which make you want to return to Sicily next year, too. If you are driving to Etna, take the route via Zafferana. The restaurant is... More

This was a lunch stop and a brilliant find! First place I've found in Sicily serving beef capaccio and it was to die for! My partner cringed when I told her it was raw beef but even she liked it! It is reasonably priced and staff are friendly enough, we are planning to go back for an evening meal, for... More
