We had excellent pizza and drinks for dinner at Cherry's. The atmosphere is casual, with a couple of seating areas, mostly outside on a terrace. The staff was very friendly. We were there on New Year's Day, when many other nearby restaurants were closed, and...so Cherry's was very busy. But the staff, and particularly the (owner?) pizza cook, were really hustling and never lost their cool. We had to wait maybe a bit longer than we would have otherwise, but drinks were brought quickly and our order was taken, and we were told that things were busy and we might have to wait longer than usual, so it was no problem.More
Nice relaxed place with a hard working and friendly staff. It's more than just pizza. We had the thazar served on a hot stone and it was excellent. Reasonable prices as well.
We visited Cherry’s on a Friday night and it had a great atmosphere with people ordering lots of fun-looking cocktails and piles of pizza. Sadly, we weren’t as hungry as we thought we were and couldn’t finish our pizzas, but that was no reflection on...them; they were great! Would recommend Cherry’s for a fun evening out.More
There is nothing wrong with this restaurant. The pizza was hand-prepared and cooked in a wood-oven. The service was good and they had done the best they could to create a nice ambience, given that it is by the side of a busy road. BUT...- for this to be ranked as the No.1 restaurant on Trip Advisor for Basse Terre is odd, since there are so many other nice restaurants that can really offer a lot more in terms of food choices, view and ambience.More
Get the Fish on the sizzling stone- the Best ever!!! We did order a pizza Take Away that was excellent! Fabulous atmosphere, lovely wait staff- friendly and charming- we will book another visit!
The steak at this little pizza shack is incredible. It is a sirloin served on an incredibly hot stone. The steak is accompanied with garlic butter, sweet chili butter and two dipping sauces. One of the most unique presentations I’ve seen. Highly recommend, and oh...yeah they have pretty good pizza too.More
We kept driving past Cherry's near our hotel in Deshais and saw lots of cars parked in front, along the street. We thought: we didn't come to Guadeloupe for pizza. Second thought: the restaurant seems located too close to the street, Then after a long...day of visiting a nearby island by ferry and back, we opted for Cherry's. First good sign when walking in the door: a real wood burning pizza oven. Yet, instead of pizza we shared a large salad and a sizzling sliced sirloin steak that arrived on a hot iron plate, with a bottle of wine. Perfect! We went back our last night and had rum drinks, a salad, handmade crispy pizza, dessert and another bottle of wine. (They offer a kiddie dish, and a lasagna that seems popular but we didn't taste it.) Hugo and Celia are perfectionists. They care about food and hospitality. The pizza oven was assembled by Hugo. He hustles between the oven area and a small kitchen yet finds time to greet guests and chat with regulars. Celia manages hosting, the phone (constant orders for take out pizza) and assisting the table server, all with a smile. They speak enough English for those of us who aren't fluent in French. They are also fluent in Portuguese. Cherry is an acronym for the first letters of each family member's name. The various pizza varieties are named after different beaches on Guadeloupe. There is pride in this 2.5 year old establishment. The prices are reasonable, the ambience is casual and the dedication is obvious. Hugo and Celia are here to serve you and help you relax. It's a great mix.More
We found this place after eating at many other restaurants in area. For the Caribbean, the pizza is fantastic. But, we went back the second night for the steak, fish and lasagna. Out of this world. Then, the coconut flan and tiramisu were delicious. Good...wines too The owners are Swiss and super friendly. We are so glad we discovered this place.More
My family came here two nights in a row. The first night we came for the pizza which was really delicious. The second we returned for the steak and the fresh fish on a hot stone and the lasagne. OMG. This meal was the best...we had our entire vacation. Sublime. Ingredients were all fresh and homemade. The wife and husband owners do everything themselves. Celia is charming and instantly makes you feel at home. The place is simple and thoughtfully decorated. The whole operation is filled with joy. I will go back in an instant during my next visit.More
