This was the original location for the bar in the series 'Death in Paradise', situated at the south end of Deshaies. I would recommend that you reserve a table; we did it by phone. We should have just ordered one starter between us, but we had the ham platter and a salad. For the main course, we had 'Cote de Boeuf', a substantial chunk of meat on the bone for 2. This was initially a little rare for our taste, but was sliced at the table and given a little extra cooking. Perfect. It was accompanied by a substantial number of frites and 3 sauces; pepper & blue cheese being the best. The remains were placed in a takeaway box; they went very well as lunch the next day. We did find room for desserts; ice cream and a praline/passion fruit pudding. Service was just the right speed and, although clearly popular, no effort was made to hurry us away. Both the waiters who served us spoke good English. Recommended for an excellent experience.

We had an excellent evening in La Kaz du Douanier. From the starters, over the 'planteur', to the main dishes, the wine and the desserts, everything was 'spot on'. Very nice, relaxed atmosphere, and very pleasant and friendly service (in our case from Stéphane). We really enjoyed everything about this place. Keep up the good work!

This was hands down our favorite dinner of our week in Guadeloupe. It was an adorable restaurant with a dining room featuring local art and little tables tucked away on the wrap-around porch. The menu was well-thought out and had many delicious offerings. The staff and owners were friendly, service was fast and food was delicious. For non-French speakers, one of the owners was very friendly in helping explain the menu in English and answer any questions we had. Parking was easy in a large free lot down the street. As there are a number of wild cats on the island, they do make themselves at home and beg for food at your table, so be warned of that. Do not miss this stop!

This was the most expensive restaurant we ate at in Deshaies. Whilst I will give top marks for the desserts, the rest of the meal was not above average, and didn’t justify the high prices. The restaurant clearly is good at marketing and creates a reasonable ambience with good decor and friendly staff, but that didn’t matter much to us since they couldn’t do much about a flock of flying ants which was buzzing above our table and into our meal, drinks and hair.

Used as a set for “death in paradise” this small but characterful restaurant is typical Guadeloupe. What’s nicest about it is the fact that although pretty much every client is a tourist, they treat you as if you are a regular with lots of attention and charm. Food is excellent with really fresh fish and plenty of choice. Right in the middle of Deshaies, we spotted the full house driving past and booked for the following evening. We were glad we did

Maybe we're missing something but Le Kaz didn't live up to its good reputation. We ordered steak which was tough and stringy. Our neighbors in the next table had ordered the same dish and concurred. The shrimp and mussel risotto was acceptable but lacked any creativity and had exactly three mussels. The rum dessert was okay but again, lacked imagination. It was dessert lazily done. Although our server was very nice and professional, the fellow who seated us (probably the manager) pointed to an undesirable table, told us in a barking tone to "sit over there", even though we were the first guests and had reserved the day before. And we are very courteous. We are also "foodies". Without a doubt, there are much better choices in Deshaies. Skip this one.

We called in without reservation and a table was found. Food excellent … I had the steak, husband had catch of the day. We very much enjoyed our night and our good in a busy restaurant … very pleased we could be accommodated without reservation.

We throughly enjoyed this casual but superb restaurant in Deshaies. We called for reservations the same day and were offered the choice of a 6:45 or 8:30 pm seating. Service was excellent and we shared our appetizer and entrees with no room left over for dessert! We split the “féroce d’avocat” which was incredibly flavorful, and then the “thon tartare” and the “poisson frais du jour” which was dorade, accompanied by delicious frites. We would have gone back to this restaurant again if we had stayed a bit longer in Guadeloupe. A real treasure and worth making a reservation!

The environment is typical. The waitresses are polite but not really welcoming and give good advice. The dishes were plentiful and even if the tuna and rack of lamb that we ate were OK, the accompaniments were very bland (rice and dry mashed potatoes without taste). At 30 euros per dish we expect semi-gourmet cuisine but we are far from it. This dissuaded us from having dessert... I advise against it.

We had a wonderful meal here. We all ordered tuna and it was a very large portion and prepared perfectly. The staff was very nice. We sat outside along the sidewalk. I would highly recommend eating here. Best to make reservations.

This place is small but great atmosphere and the food was delicious. As with most restaurants in Deshaies, reservations are needed. Also, service is typically slow as they only serve their tables ONCE per night. We loved it as we could sit and enjoy our evening without being pushed out. I highly recommend La Kaz.

We ate here one evening. I phoned ahead for a reservation for a table for two. We were offered a table in the mIddle of the restaurant. I asked if we could be seated on the terrasse but was told no. As I assumed our table was not quiet at all almost everything that was ordered had to pass our table along with the staff and sometimes I could feel a floor board pop up when the waiter stepped in a certain spot on the floor. We ordered the risotto which on the menu states it came with shrimp and muscles but no muscles were present on the plate. when it was served We were not offered any explanations but in there defense we did not question it we just ate because well, we were hungry. It was good but not great and portions were a bit small for the money. The decor and paintings are inviting.

Despite a late Resa, the boss welcomed us at 9:00 p.m. this Saturday full until 8:15 p.m. We were perfectly received, with very delicate attention. The dishes were exquisite, from the typical Creole starter revisited through classics (Charolais burger and tuna tataki) to desserts. Perfect place for a pleasant evening 😃👍🏽 Well done to all the staff 👏🏽 Do not change anything except perhaps a local musical background to harmonize with the Creole setting of the home. We will come back eagerly.

Tasty and well cooked grilled fish. They also speak in English. Prices in line with the places in the area: a dish with side dish and rice around 25. We had a good time

Very good evening and very warm welcome! After starting with an excellent avocado dish, I opted for the perfectly cooked tuna tataki, I even had a super rare dessert: the homemade coconut flan with spices. The tourist thing that I avoid most of the time, I really enjoyed it! Thank you for this delicious meal, we will come back!
