Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I came here just to have an afternoon drink while my husband made a walk around and in the castle. I had been there a few years back and decided to rest my legs this time. I sat on the sunny terrasse with a glass...of gintonic and nuts. The view towards the castle was great, my drink cold and tasty, a very relaxing afternoon. The service was ignoring and reckless and certainly expected me to order food.More

This is a cozy small restaurant offering delicious food and drinks. The service was fast and polite, the view of the Kuressaare castle breathtaking. We'll definitely come back this week!

This pub is positioned with a beautiful aspect overlooking Kuressaare castle and moat. The pub also has a nice character inside, and a lovely outdoor veranda. The food that we had was satisfactory, but the service took a long time despite the place being very...quiet. The staff were miserable to the customers, but happy talking to their colleagues. Most unwelcoming to a point of being ignored. It was a great shame because this pub could be a gold mine if it were run by better people. Menu was comprehensive and appetising butwe can only say that our pasta dish was ok.More

It was almost exactly 2 years before when we were here and I wrote these same things. Great central location and amazing views to the Castle. Interesting interior, with old Bus being there counter :) But unfortunately their service again was so unattentive. We sat...outside(only customers), but no one came. Then we went inside to order our drinks and no hellos/welcomes, despite we speak few words of Estonian and usually everyone here speak good English. After our drinks we were still only customers outside, but no one came during that 20-25mins to ask are we ok, do we need something else etc.More

Service is not very good. We ordered 1 pepsi with ice and another one without, we got both with ice. Then we ordered oven pasta with ham which didn’t have taste at all, cheese was all dryed out so it was one big piece of...hard cheese and the ham itself wasn’t actually ham, it was sliced sausage. The chicken pasta had weird combinations in there such as pickles, huge pieces of bell peppers and so all the vegetable juice was flooding the pasta. Other costumers foods did look good, but pastas are no go. Then we asked to pay with a card and the dude threw over the shoulder for us to go inside and pay. I think the waiter was super rude and didnt’t care about costumers at all.More

As it was one of the last warm days of this summer we were looking for a place to have our late Saturday lunch outside in the sun. John Bull Pub was open and they have a nice terrace with views to Kuressaare castle. Service...was quick and as sunny as the weather. Food was better than You could have guessed by reading the menu. Actually tasty and inventive, however simple. Nice choice of beers too.More

First of all, I am not saying this lightly, but the food was terrible! I went there with a group of friends and 2 of us who ate seafood pasta both got an awful food poisoning some hours after the visit. I couldn't even finish...the dish, because it also tasted bad and the food poisoning just confirmed how terrible that dish was. I would recommend to stay away, as there are tons of other nice places in Kuressaare.More

Great location and views to the beautiful Castle from their terrace. Really interesting interior, for example part of old bus is their bar counter(look at my pic). Unfortunately service was unattentive and slow. Our waitress sit on the bench talking with her friend and we...had to go inside to pay. Before that we had to wait our ice teas for awhile and when she brought those, she didn't say anything(and in Estonia every younger person speaks English).More

Had a 6pm visit and we found the John Bull pub to be very nice indeed. Beautiful castle view on the terrace and funky interiors, too. I also found a local analcholic drink which I loved. kids food was ok. fish was good and salade, too. The...music just like in the rest of Estonia is purely 80s vintage pop.More

We only stopped for a glass of wine one evening on the way to our hotel. The location is very nice, right at the Bishop's Caste moat. But the house wine was not good. You can get much better, at the same price, elsewhere.

The service is really poor: first waiter took our orders, second one brought us food we didn't order and a third one took the food back. We had to wait even longer to get the correct dishes and there was no apology for messing it...up. Also, we expected better food for the priceMore
