As a fan of The Quiet Man movie, going to Pat Cohan's was a must for me. I wanted to have lunch there but only drinks were available on that day which was okay for me. It was fun to have drinks from the bar...shown in the movie. The folks there were friendly and informative as we learned much about the bar with regards to the movie filming. My wife and I even had our picture taken behind the bar which was fun.More

Really lovely welcome. Sat at the bar and had a drink before going to our table. We shared the duck aranchini starter which was lovely. I had the chicken curry and my husband had the monkfish curry -both big portions and very good.

Ambiance is slightly better than average but could be improved. Fancy presentation of food. Decent drink menu. Food was good overall. They do have oysters. Good service.

The pub is relatively new, only about 15 years old. It was created to feed the demand of the fans of The Quiet Man film. The service is OK and the food is good but it could do with a bit of atmosphere. Being a...themed pub they could do with some music, be it live or as background through a sound system. The whole place just needed a bit of a lift.More

Historic venue due to The Quiet Man Film of 1951 era. Fantastic quality of food beautifally presented. The general atmosphere when we ate was more reserved than possibly other pubs and resturants in the area, but lovely. Very friendly service. There is a bar area...which had locals drinking, and a seperate walk through dining area. We would have eaten there again but the other evening they had a private function with music .... I would call this fine dining, given the qualiry of food. A shared starter, two mains, 3 pints of Guinness, one dessert, a glass of wine, and an Irish Coffee came to €117, approx. £100 excluding a tip. Highly recommend.More

We wanted to go for dinner on a Friday evening but we didn't get through the door. I had tried to phone to see if a reservation was necessary and no one answered the phone but it did go to an answering machine/service. When we...drove there, it was annoying to find the place was closed for a private function. It would have been thoughtful and considerate to have left a message on the answering machine for those who phoned in. We went elsewhere for supper, and then also went elsewhere for all meals on the following day. I dont begrudge them a private function but I would expect them to think of the impact on other potential clientele.More

Food beautiful but unfortunately overly inflated prices 😤. Foundered all evening (sat with my coat on 🥶). Lacked the atmosphere of an old West of Ireland village pub - needed a big fire lit and few Irish tunes playing!.

Paul, how you surprised us with your cooking skills! We live in Belgium so we've eaten a lot of mussels but none of them were as good as yours! What a lovely cozy cafe, friendly staff and great music. If we ever decide to come...back to Ireland, we will come for you Paul! 😃 much Love, Sanne&Tom from BelgiumMore

What a wonderful place to eat! The ambience was welcoming and friendly. The food was superb! The best we’ve eaten in Ireland this week of holiday. The chef did an awesome job of combining just the perfect mix of fresh ingredients to produce a very...fine meal. Go when you’re in town! The spaghetti marinara was delicious. Don’t miss the sticky toffee dessert. It’s beyond good. We will return next time we are visiting Ireland.More

Tourist trap. Food tastes fine but is overpriced. €16 for a much smaller than usual portion of mussels (w/ 1 thin piece of bread). €18 for chicken curry. Interior is nice. Service staff are a bit indifferent. If you have to visit, I'd recommend just...popping in for a beer, if you can find a spot at the very small, crowded bar. Cong is a great little town though, very picturesque. Be sure to visit the nearby abbey, its grounds and the forest trails beyond. Just eat somewhere else.More

Excellent food, great service and friendly staff. We were on route to Clifden and decided to spend 2 nights in Cong specifically to eat in Cohan's as it's dog friendly and food is excellent. Our first experience was last year when we discovered it by...accident on our travels to Achill. So impressed we changed our holiday plans this year to come again🥳 On 1st night fillet steaks cooked to perfection, melt in your mouth. Truffle fries and onion rings both lovely sides as were the pepper and chimichurri sauces. 2nd night we went with duck arrancini to start, great flavours from ginger and soy sauce. Fish (hake) and chips , yellow chicken curry for mains. Both delicious. The custard tart with vanilla ice cream and raspberry coulis was surprisingly good given I'm not typically mad about custard!! Sticky toffee pudding always a winner 🏆 Chef Paul and the lady who served us remembered us from our visits in 2022 which was nice (probably recognised our 2 gorgeous doggies 😂🦮). Thanks again guys and see you again 👍More

I don’t know for sure. When we were there in Sept 2022, I spoke with Ray (one of the owners) and he was talking about things that had happened at Pat’s pre COVID so it would seem that they’ve been open since 2020 at least.
