We arrived in Cong to our B&B and decided to wonder around, we found Pat Cohan's and when open we made a booking for later that evening. On arrival we were greeted by a happy smiling member of staff with a warm welcome, we had the battered fish (hake)and chips, I have had battered fish countless times in the past but this was probably the best I have ever tasted batter so light and the fish was perfectly cooked. We booked again for the following night, I again had the fish and it was just as good as the previous night, I'm still savouring it 5 days later, my wife had a pasta dish which she loved, I tasted it and it was really good. When we went to leave storm Ellen had arrived bringing torrential rain, the staff produced an umbrella for us to take for our 3 minute walk to our accommodation. The staff were very friendly, attentive and made you feel at home. The manager checked on us several times to ensure we were happy with everything. Good value for a meal for two with a few drinks, highly recommended thank you.

Dear LoveIreland2020, Many thanks for taking the time to leave us a very kind review. Your mention of the umbrella reminds me of who you were, and may I say you were a pleasure to have as guests of ours - very friendly and courteous to both the staff and I which really does make a huge difference to staff moral. We very much look forward to welcoming you back at some future date. Kind Regards, Bryan

My husband and I were staying in the area and booked for dinner (7pm) in Pat Cohen’s. It was a lovely experience from start to finish. The pub has a lovely traditional Irish welcoming feeling. The menu has a great selection and the staff were friendly, approachable and attentive. I had the bruschetta to start, the pork chop main and the apple crumble for dessert. My husband had the ham hock terrine to start and signature burger for main. The food was appetising to look at and very tasty to eat. My husband had a good pint of Guinness as well. We both enjoyed the food and atmosphere immensely and will definitely be back. They had all the COVID-19 safety measures in place too. We are happy to recommend this bar/restaurant!

As above, just wow. We ate here last night and all I can say it's one if not the best meal we have had in this country. Seafood chowder and duck wings as a starter... flavour profiles just perfect. A showpiece tomahawk steak for 2 as the main with lovely side dishes is what makes this a must for couples who love their steak. 2 fabulous desserts to finish it off and some really good wine made this a memorable experience. Just to top it all off the staff were top class, very attentive and no request was an issue. The chef even made an appearance to make sure our tomahawk was cooked to our liking. YOU MUSY TRY THIS RESTAURANT.

Before I start, a disclaimer I didn't actually eat here. My review is based on my experience at the restaurant. I had booked a table for 5 including a baby chair for mother's day. As I knew it was going to be busy I made sure to inform staff that a baby chair was required. The lady taking the reservation outlined that it would not be a problem. On the day of the reservation we arrived to a busy restaurant to be brought to our table, minus the baby chair. I asked for this and I was told there would be one available promptly. After about 15mins the waitress came to take our order, I asked about the baby chair as I was not going to eat dinner with a busy 12month old jumping on my lap. The waitress cleary none the wiser left to come back another 10mins later with who I imagine was the manager, she then informed me that there was no high chair available as they were being used and that we would have to wait until they finished, but we were told that they too had just sat down so we would have to wait awhile. I explained my previous booking requirements and it was bearly acknowledged. I also informed staff that as we had a 12 month baby and 2 other young kids we would not be able to wait. The staff didn't care one bit, infact I got the impression that they were happy to see us leave. It ruined what should have been nice family occasion. I can understand that of course restaurants have only a limited amount of high chairs but due to the fact I had stated on reservation but also the complete lack of understanding that as a result our dinner had to be cancelled really left a sour note.

Called in today with our baby daughter for a meal as we just happened to be in the area. The staff were just wonderful, I think it was a Lucy who looked after us, apologies if I have the wrong name, but nothing was too much trouble and her friendliness and helpfulness alone would make you visit for a meal. There were vegetarian/vegan options available, which was great. The food was just delicious, between us we had seafood chowder, brown soda bread, a yellow asian curry with tenderstem broccoli, cashew nuts and peas, green salad and Cohan's fries and a chocolate tart. Everything looked and tasted fantastic. Would highly recommend a visit here. It's also worth mentioning that all covid precautions were in place; our certs were checked, masks were worn, hand gel was available, good spacing between tables which gives great confidence as a customer. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

Had heard great things about Pat Cohans from friends so had to try it for ourselves. What a wonderful experience, waiting staff could not do enough for us (very helpful but discreet). The Seafood chowder is to die for not to mention the creamy pint of Guinness. Main courses of Steak(myself), Salmon(my wife) were cooked to perfection. Compliments to Chef Paul who popped out to say hello( Nice touch). Will definitely be back on our next visit to Cong. Hopefully the Gaa will have raffled the car by then. (See review on Cong Abbey). We recently spent 8 nights in a nearby Schloss in County Mayo, and dined at Pat Cohan's on three occasions, and each time the food was extraordinary, every dish boasted the freshest of ingredients, a gorgeous marriage of flavors, and an impeccable presentation - a glorious combination. The service was always spot on, and the venue is delightful with lots of memorabilia from 'The Quiet Man' movie. This combination of fabulous food in an inviting and delightful setting is the end result of the ingenuity of Pat Cohan's Chef Patron, Paul Power. This talented chef will grace your table with specialties from from the Grill, or gorgeous delicacies from the Sea, and Vegans will also find an enticing dish to satisfy their hunger pangs. Everything we indulged in was delicious. If you are in the neighborhood and feeling peckish, this eatery is not to be missed. Reservations are highly recommended as this deservedly popular restaurant has a loyal following. Go and enjoy!!

We manged to get a reservation for an evening meal in August 2021, a bonus for us as we are both fans of The Quiet Man film. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The staff were very good and made the whole experience memorable. Food was excellent, we had fresh cod as the fish of the day beautifully cooked. The staff assisted in taking lots of photos of the inside of the restaurant for the Quiet Man connection. We had a chat with the Chef, Paul, after the meal, what a lovely man. He presented us with a print of one of the posters for the film as a momento of the evening, He even stopped his car to talk to us whilst we were walking around the village the following day, amazing. We wish this gem of a place all the best for the future.

While staying at Ashford Castle, we did some sight seeing in Cong and stopped in for a drink. We saw a menu and decided to have dinner there that evening. Perfection! The lamb is the best we've ever had at a restaurant. The portions were ample and everything was tasty. We had reservations at the castle the next night but decided after such a great meal we wanted to go back to pat cohans and sample more of Chef Paul's offerings, which we did. Another great meal. Chicken and fish selections were perfectly seasoned and cooked. We highly recommend this restaurant and that you book a table in advance to guarantee your spot. The restaurant is cozy, clean, with friendly, prompt wait staff. If you're going to be visiting anywhere near Cong, don't miss this place!

I cannot recommend this place enough. We have been here several times now and every single time the quality of the meal, the friendliness of the staff and the atmosphere are flawless. The best dish in the house is the Tomahawk steak for 2 people. The scallops to start are perfection. The wait staff are exceptionally friendly and the chef coming over after dinner is such a nice touch and really shows they care. It does come with a price tag but every penny is worth the quality you are getting.

We called into Pat Cohans for a quick coffee as we had already booked for dinner at the castle but the smell of the food coming out of the kitchen was making us very hungry. The place is very popular due to being a location from the movie The Quiet man but it has a good reputation for good food and good service. Its not a very big area so booking is recommended for large groups.

Pat Cohan's is within walking distance of Ashford Castle where we were staying. Great way to walk of the calories you just ate. If you are a Quiet Man fan this is a must place for you. My husband and I were going to cancel our reservations since we had Afternoon Tea at 4:00pm at the castle and were stuffed but we decided we wanted at least go here for drinks and maybe something very small to eat. Well that plan didn't work, the menu was excellent and everything looked wonderful. Definitely not pub food. We both ended up ordering full meals and they both were excellent. We even indulged in dessert which was most definitely not the plan. Service was excellent and atmosphere was quaint and homey. Really enjoyed our last night in Ireland here.

Historic venue due to The Quiet Man Film of 1951 era. Fantastic quality of food beautifally presented. The general atmosphere when we ate was more reserved than possibly other pubs and resturants in the area, but lovely. Very friendly service. There is a bar area which had locals drinking, and a seperate walk through dining area. We would have eaten there again but the other evening they had a private function with music .... I would call this fine dining, given the qualiry of food. A shared starter, two mains, 3 pints of Guinness, one dessert, a glass of wine, and an Irish Coffee came to €117, approx. £100 excluding a tip. Highly recommend.

Staying at the nearby Lodge at Ashford Castle, I visited Pat Cohans on two nights - once for drinks, and another for drinks and dinner. The fit out is modern. The atmosphere is relaxed. The staff were friendly. The food was great - really good quality. The risotto was perfectly cooked and Bailey’s creme brûlée tasty. It’s a pity there are not a few more vegetarian options on the menu though. Tip, it seems to be a popular place so would recommend booking.

My husband & I had dinner here two weeks ago and on ordering the marinated Rosemary & garlic supreme of chicken unfortunuately we found the portions meager & surprisingly tastless also it's hard to imagine in the country of spuds we only got one small one each. for the price of 22 euros this was poor value overall. Sorry but we had dessert but left HANGRY.
