What a wonderful place to spend an evening. Fantastic welcome from friendly staff delicious food made with passion served in delightful surroundings. Well done to you all. A real gem in the beautiful village of Cong
We recently spent 8 nights in a nearby Schloss in County Mayo, and dined at Pat Cohan's on three occasions, and each time the food was extraordinary, every dish boasted the freshest of ingredients, a gorgeous marriage of flavors, and an impeccable presentation - a...glorious combination. The service was always spot on, and the venue is delightful with lots of memorabilia from 'The Quiet Man' movie. This combination of fabulous food in an inviting and delightful setting is the end result of the ingenuity of Pat Cohan's Chef Patron, Paul Power. This talented chef will grace your table with specialties from from the Grill, or gorgeous delicacies from the Sea, and Vegans will also find an enticing dish to satisfy their hunger pangs. Everything we indulged in was delicious. If you are in the neighborhood and feeling peckish, this eatery is not to be missed. Reservations are highly recommended as this deservedly popular restaurant has a loyal following. Go and enjoy!!More
My husband and I have been to pat cohans a few times and each time is just as wonderful as the last! The service is really good and the food is tasty and fresh! The fillet is beyond incredible! The fish and chips are flavourful,...the sharing steak for 2 is juicy, and the creme brûlée is incredible! I would recommend the restaurant to anyone and everyone!More
We have just had the most enjoyable evening in Pat Cohans bar and restaurant. The staff were so welcoming and friendly while also being really professional. The menu had a great variety of locally sourced ingredients. We both had the fish and chips which I...would highly recommend. We struggled to share a sticky toffee pudding which was sublime. The atmosphere was cosy and warm and we will definitely be back. Desiree and AislinnMore
We've just recently returned from our trip to Ireland and I still cannot get over what a wonderful experience we had during our time in Cong. While there were many amazing components of our trip, the absolute highlight was our experience -- or experiences, rather...-- at Pat Cohans. First off, the space is perfect and your quintessential Irish pub, but almost more of a classier, cozier feel to it. The drinks were fantastic and it was the perfect spot for our first Guinness of the trip. Nothing could have prepared us, however, for how absolutely incredible the food was! It was nothing short of a five star experience, and we were blown away by every dish. The flavor, execution and presentation were all 10/10 -- we were shocked at how the dishes came out looking like we were in a 3 Michelin star restaurant. Everything was beautifully done. We ended up actually canceling our reservation at George V (we were staying at Ashford Castle) to come back the following night, as we were so impressed by the food. My husband and I live in New York and are big foodies, so we definitely appreciate good quality, eclectic menus, and minor details. Pat Cohans nailed each of these - we tried the duck wings, goat cheese tart, all of the risotto dishes, the filet, the monkfish curry, fish and chips, and the world's best sticky toffee pudding. I can honestly say there isn't one dish we still don't crave now that we are back stateside - everything was SO delicious.
As wonderful as the food and ambiance was, our favorite part of our time at Pats was the people. The chef, Paul, is an absolute gem. Not only has he worked in Michelin star restaurants and insanely talented, he is a truly lovely person who we are now so fond of. He knew we were torn on what to order our first day and took the liberty of just ordering for us, which we loved. We spent quite a bit of time speaking to him, despite him being so busy and even brought the handsome Hugo, his dog, to meet us! That made our night, as we were missing our dog so much, so it was a really special touch. Ciara and Michelle were also really great, and we had so much fun chatting with them and getting to know them. They introduced us to some fun new drinks and we shared many laughs. Altogether, the greatest group of people we met during our trip to Ireland - and there were many!
I would say this place is a must, especially if staying in Cong...we loved Ashford Castle, but the food, service and overall experience we had each night at Pats was by far the best part of our trip. I couldn't recommend more!More
I don’t even know where to start… the most beautiful atmosphere, food, service, vibe, care….everything!! From the moment you walk in you are met with a warmth & a smile! A real Irish experience bar/restaurant experience!
The food was exceptional!! We had oysters, squid &...bbq duck wings for starters! Then scallop & prawn risotto & the lamb for mains & baileys creme brûlée for desert…. All was AMAZING!! We are foodies & love good quality food & pat cohans didn’t disappoint! Fresh ingredients, flavours to die for & great service with a top class pint of Guinness to wash down!!
My partner proposed to me after dessert! He has organised with the staff to bring out a bottle of champagne after dessert and it was honestly unbelievable! To have such a lovely crowd of people around us in that special moment who were genuinely happy for us was just something else! I will never forget it and pat cohans staff and chef paul for there amazing hospitality and service!
People will come from all over to visit here & the grounds outside and village is beautiful ! You won’t regret coming here!
Thanks again Paul and staff :)

Absolutely wonderful food with local produce. The lamb is not to be missed! Very friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere as well. We went here both nights that we stayed in Cong and don’t regret it a bit. Great chef, Paul Power and lovely ladies...at the bar. Highly recommend!More
Staying at the nearby Lodge at Ashford Castle, I visited Pat Cohans on two nights - once for drinks, and another for drinks and dinner. The fit out is modern. The atmosphere is relaxed. The staff were friendly. The food was great - really good...quality. The risotto was perfectly cooked and Bailey’s creme brûlée tasty. It’s a pity there are not a few more vegetarian options on the menu though.
Tip, it seems to be a popular place so would recommend booking.More
Before I start, a disclaimer I didn't actually eat here.
My review is based on my experience at the restaurant.
I had booked a table for 5 including a baby chair for mother's day. As I knew it was going to be busy I made...sure to inform staff that a baby chair was required. The lady taking the reservation outlined that it would not be a problem.
On the day of the reservation we arrived to a busy restaurant to be brought to our table, minus the baby chair. I asked for this and I was told there would be one available promptly. After about 15mins the waitress came to take our order, I asked about the baby chair as I was not going to eat dinner with a busy 12month old jumping on my lap. The waitress cleary none the wiser left to come back another 10mins later with who I imagine was the manager, she then informed me that there was no high chair available as they were being used and that we would have to wait until they finished, but we were told that they too had just sat down so we would have to wait awhile.
I explained my previous booking requirements and it was bearly acknowledged. I also informed staff that as we had a 12 month baby and 2 other young kids we would not be able to wait. The staff didn't care one bit, infact I got the impression that they were happy to see us leave. It ruined what should have been nice family occasion. I can understand that of course restaurants have only a limited amount of high chairs but due to the fact I had stated on reservation but also the complete lack of understanding that as a result our dinner had to be cancelled really left a sour note.More
