Had a lovely stop here one sunny autumn morning. Off season in the village of Cong but I was given a lovely warm welcome. It wasn't busy but I didn't feel conspicuous or overly fussed over as can often happen when you are one of a few customers. Had the Monk breakfast, a nicely cooked breakfast of sausage, bacon, tomato... More

We popped in to the Hungry Monk before our Quiet Man tour for a hit chocolate. They were so good we returned for lunch!! Even when the place filled up within30 seconds, the service was still attentive and the food was absolutely delicious!! The owner is a charming bloke who has a great sense of humour and gives fantastic service.... More

From the food to their Service, everything is superb in the Hungry Monk Café. As soon as you step in, you get to feel this cozy atmosphere. All the handmade pastries and cakes are delicious. But most of all what sets apart this café is the presence and warmth of Aisling and John, you can really feel their passion for... More

During our stay my husband and I ate lunch here everyday! The couple who owns it are very friendly and great to talk to about things to do in the area. They offer fresh baked desserts that are homemade. Don't miss out on this little gem!

Husband and I decided to make this cafe our first stop in Ireland for breakfast. Had visited 8 years earlier and not disappointed this time around either. Small, quaint, great service. Love the "no menu" except for the small chalkboard on the wall. Menu is whatever locally comes in, which is fabulous! Both of us had the full Irish which... More

We stopped in for lunch as we were staying at the Lodge at Ashford Castle. The sandwiches were incredibly flavorful. The "Bap" or roll that the sandwiches were served on were the softest & most delicious things ever. Light, fluffy, perfection. The Ham & Cheese sandwich. OH MY GOODNESS. Amazing. Simple. SO FULL OF FLAVOR. The latte & tea were... More

We stopped in after walking over from Ashford Castle. All desserts were homemade and on the chilly day just perfect. Just over the bridge and to the left... Very friendly and very comfortable...

We were revisiting places after visiting the area 7 years ago. We visited the Hungry Monk then and today we were not disappointed. The inside space is still the same, small but full of character. We decided to just had a tea and some cake but there was a lot of great looking food on offer. The cafe did get... More
