Have been to this restaurant a number of times and I would only feel disappointed if I couldn't get a table. The food is delicious, the ambiance is homely and the staff are courteous and friendly.

On the main street going down to the port. The walls inside are covered with hanging plates. often difficult to get a table at peak times.Excellent food and service. Had garlic prawns to share followed by seabass with canarian potatoes and salad, El Golfo steak with chips and salad plus a bottle of house red wine for 40e

This is not fancy food by any means but the combination of very friendly service and fresh produce cooked in a simple way makes its a must visit. Two of us had the fish of the day which was grilled sole. It was very fresh and served with homemade tartare sauce. There isnt as m,uch choice here as some restaurants... More

El Golfo is a traditional family restaurant and at times can be very busy because of its popularity and just to turn up without booking is disrespectful therefore the reviewers who have said that they had to wait before they were found a table "tough" book next time you will not be disappointed but you need to order something traditional... Visited here twice before on previous visits to the island and enjoyed the meal. Turned up on spec last night. It was busy so we waited patiently near the door to see if we had a chance of a table a little later. 3 staff members walked past totally ignoring us. They were obviously serving etc but 'be with you... More

The welcome warm, decor kind of cute, if a little kitsch. From the first dish, avocados and shrimp, we were worried. Avocado in ripe and shrimp smothered in too much mayonnaise . There were eight of us, and all of our fish dishes were overlooked and flavorless. They need to send chef, undoubtedly a family member, to cooking school. Of... More

Whilst we stood at the door queueing, we were being given menu recommendations by exiting diners. Once inside, we were impressed by the warmth of the welcome and the prompt service. We were given the menu immediately, together with some complimentary croquettes whilst we browsed the menu. The owner is a friendly and hospitable man, who cannot do enough to... More

This is a genuinely authentic family restaurant the oldest in Puerto del Carmen! We enjoyed a warm welcome and seated in one of the large booths, our order was taken promptly. We were given a lovely amuse bouche - bruschetta which was melt in the mouth. Mains we ordered were the El Golfo Steak and Chicken Dish. Both really good... More
