Fantastic food

Been to this restaurant several times and just happened to look on trip advisor to see what diners has to say. Cannot Beleive some people moaning about the service. If you want yo be waited on hand and foot do not come here as the waiters are far to busy to pamper to your needs. However if you want anything at all you can stick your hand up and the waiters will come running. This is not the Ritz it is a perfectly welcoming great food restaurant with a very varied and cheap menu.

Nothing to fault!

Walking around PDC trying to find somewhere to have vegetarian dinner we were approached by a member of staff pointing out the menu (as many do!) The reason we decided to eat there was that he said we shouldn’t be afraid to ask for anything we liked to be cooked for us! The restaurant was classy (unlike many in the vicinity) with tablecloths and everything! We asked for some pasta with mushrooms and the waiter suggested other ingredients - chilli, oil, peppers, paprika, cheese, cream etc...It all sounded great. The food arrived very promptly with the mushrooms in an edible bread basket. We had also ordered garlic bread. Not all the ingredients we discussed were present but the spaghetti we were served was delicious and we very much appreciated the effort to accommodate us, something that would be nigh on impossible in the UK! The service was excellent and the waiting staff attentive. The house wine. was average but it was a large glass for the money and was wet and cold! We would certainly visit again.

Amazing food & service

10/10 for this restaurant based upon service and food. We spent 3 nights of our 7 night holiday here and never had a complaint. Beautiful food cooked to perfection and very attentive service, nothing was a problem. Price is amazing aswell, on newcastle it would have cost £100 easy for the same food and drink we got one night for €67. Well worth a visit ☺️ (Photos are two separate nights)

Long wait to be served despite it not being that busy. In fact suspiciously the food arrived in less time than we waited to be served. Stale buns served with the horrible burgers and the two of us who had a mixed seafood platter spent the rest of the evening in the bathroom.

Rudest staff & cold breakfast

Went for breakfast, the waitress was so rude & made us feel unwelcome n everything was a task for her. The breakfast was cold n bacon I asked for well done was practically raw. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant although has beautiful interior just a shame about rude staff when we’re providing custom to their business!

The restaurant looks really nice from the outside, but it was actually by far our worst experience of the whole holiday. We were seated at our table last night and ordered our tapas at 10pm. We waited 1 hour for the food to finally arrive (after 11pm). None of the waiters came near us during this time to apologise or explain the reason for the delay in serving the food. When the food arrived the waiters were rude and defensive, shooting us down by saying 'we are very busy' when we mentioned the waiting time. Perhaps you shouldn't let so many people in to the restaurant if you are unable to meet the demand of the service. On top of that the food was basic. I ordered garlic mushrooms, which were swimming in piping hot oil. 1 of the tapas my friend ordered was a mixed meat skewer. Half way through eating it, he realised the chicken was virtually raw (see picture). If we are going to be waiting so long for the food, the least we expected was for it to be fully cooked and edible. Again, when we explained this to the waiter, he was defensive, took the plate away and just said "the pressure" relating to it being busy. He did not apologise at the time for the food being very undercooked. When we asked for the bill, we were charged for a dish we never ordered along with the raw skewer dish. We explained this to the waiter, he said he would take off the plate we didn't order but would charge us half price for the skewers, because it was half eaten. At this point we put our foot down and stated we would NOT be paying for a dish that was served to my friend RAW, which he accepted. After we paid the bill, I tried to explain to the waiter how dissatisfied we were with the service, he put his hand to my face to stop me talking and starting talking to my friend in Spanish (my friend speaks Spanish fluently). After my friend explained on my behalf our dissatisfaction the waiter apologised and offered us a free drink, which we refused. We only wanted to explain to him how we thought they could make improvements going forward for future customers, as the service we received last night was unacceptable. The impression we got was thst this place does not care about customers experience, which is unfortunate as it has the potential to be a fantastic restaurant.

I don’t normally get a restaurant

I don’t normally get a restaurant so wrong but this experience was really poor. We made a quick stop I ordered a Porto mar beef burger which when it arrived was about a 5mm deep burger and my wife ordered a prawn and avocado salad. The waitress delivered my wife a wrap When questioned she said it contained prawn and avocado. My wife doesn’t eat bread so we insisted on a the salad with prawn and avocado. The women was aggressive but relented and removed the wrap. She then returned with a really poor chicken salad with avocado. We told her it was supposed to be prawn. More aggression/attitude as if that was our mistake. She returned with a saucer with 6 frozen prawns ( by frozen I mean still rock hard straight out of the deep freeze) pretty awful. Positives Beer was cold and orange juice was fresh.

Avoid!!!!!

Avoid this restaurant at all costs. Food is cooked full of salt and very poor quality. The manger is very forceful in getting people into the restaurant and it's like a converyer belt get them in get them out as quickly as. The staff do not come near your table once food has been given as they are rushing from one table to the other. The restaurant is very impersonal.

sea front promenade location and have walked past many times and so glad we did .wings and rings to start ,then the main meal ooohhh the main meal i had the t bone steak it was out of this world the grilled smell when it arrives ,the tenderness of the meat the flavour was just so good .the wife had sirloin ,she always asks for well done -no blood ,it was cooked to perfection ,it must have been nearly 2 inches thick ,how do they cook steak like that and keep it so tasty and tender . lovely restaurant for a nice quality holiday meal

A Shame

The place looks and one or two of the staff were great but unfortunately it went down hill, or should I say a ski slope, from they're. The owner/manager when getting us inside even promised a free meal for our 4 year old granddaughter. We ordered the meals and drink with the starters being good. Then the fun began, out of 4 main meals they got 1 right and a very happy son in law. My wife and daughter ordered the fillet steak and I'm sure that what was on they're plates were a piece of beef from an animal run down by a vehicle earlier on the day. The girls NEVER complain but they sent this back and chose another dish, which wasn't much better. The guy then came out with my mixed meat skewers and low and behold it had turned into a mixed grill when he sat it down in front of me. I told him that the order was wrong, which I had point too him on the menu, to be asked "Are you sure?" I just accepted it. Again the piece of steak on my plate I'm sure they changed from one of the girls plates onto mine. The poor guys English was terrible. To capital it all they then tried to charge us twice for the granddaughters chicken nuggets. When we left the guy at the front of 5e restaurant did apologise frequently Such a shame for a place that could be a gem

like most restaurants in PDC, the more the owners spend on decor and styling, the lower the quality of service and food is. We decided to give this place a try. Wrong orders being delivered to ours. Rude, angry and untrained staff abound. Then a singer set up mouthing unhearable/wrong lyrics. Chicken was undercooked. First time i've never left a tip. Absolute joke. Avoid!

Bad service from a particular waiter

We came for breakfast on the 25th of November. Our server was rude and cold towards us. He made our whole experience of eating there terrible. The food was good but he just dampened the whole atmosphere, bearing in mind there was barely any customers. When he brought over our menus, he didn’t even say one word to us. When we were ordering our food, he didn’t respond to us nicely and he didn’t go over what we ordered. When I asked for the bill as he was collecting our plates, he was like “1 minute” in a rude tone, I didn’t expect him to get the bill immediately, I expected him to get it when he could. When we were leaving he said “thank you” to us, which was surprising, but again, in a rude way, we didn’t say thank you or bye back because he was rude to us throughout our whole experience so we didn’t bother so then eventually when he realised we didn’t say bye back, he said BYE in a really rude and loud way. Absolutely disgraceful. I have never experienced a waiter that rude in my life. It’s not hard to just be nice to your customers, especially when they are nice back which we were. Porto Mar is a nice place, sometimes slow with service, but apart from that and apart from him, it’s a nice place.

Hamburger with no burger 🤣

I foolishly assumed that all the items under the hamburger section on the menu contained an actual burger!! What a fool I am. When my "burger" arrived: onion rings, bacon, fried egg and raw onion in a lightly toasted bun, I thought "this is strange". I called the waiter who asked what's the problem to which I replied there's no burger. He was incredulous that I didn't understand that because the description didn't specifically say there was a burger I shouldn't have assumed there was one. Foolish me 😅. Perhaps they shouldn't put this item (called Kevin Bacon) under the hamburger section of the menu.

Lovely visit, lovely staff

Had a wonderful lunch here. Very pleasant staff. I ordered sardines and garlic bread. M mum ordered garlic prawns, my dad had a prawn cocktail. Unfortunately sardines were not available so I ordered the Catalan bread instead. A nice surprise was a plate of garlic Limpets free for not having the sardines I guess. They were gorgeous (limpets are chewy at the best of times but they were very tasty) and not something you see often at restaurants (I would order if they were). Toilets are beautiful and spotlessly clean. Will definately visit again. One suggestion would be to serve the garlic prawns with a little bread (we asked but maybe this was just a small oversight) as I don't recall it being on the bill as an extra. All the best. Will be visiting again soon.

Don’t waste your money

I’ve never been a fan of those guys on the street trying to drag you into the restaurant but despite my better judgement had been told the food was good by an uncle. I found the service to be creepy with the maitradee trying to barter goats for time with my sister in-law. I wish I could say this was the low point of the evening. The food was edible but if I was to make it at home in the airfryer I’d have made it better.
