Sit and read the paper in the window seat of the Dancing Midge watching the expanse of the Firth of Clyde and the world go by with scone, cream jam and a large cappuchino.. great

I cycle in Millport quite a lot through the year and I usually use the Ritz cafe but if you read my review of that place you will understand why I decided to try the dancing midge. Well what can I say, here's a few words for starters, clean, bright, welcoming, happy, modern. I popped in before I started my... More

We enjoyed the island and needed a little something to keep the chill at bay. We spotted this we eatery was open n bobs... More

Nice place, nice coffee, great food, but so so dog unfriendly. On a place like Millport you would think they would be more relaxed - like Nardinis at the Pier, Bagel Basket, etc, in Largs. They quote H&S, hygiene, etc - crap. Jury out on their decision. They sow what they reap.

Firstly, thank you for your kind remarks about our good food and coffee. Our no dogs policy is far from "crap". We did allow dogs in the cafe when we first opened, but unfortunately we had a couple of bad incidents involving dogs, and as customers and staff safety are our main priorities, we decided not to let dogs in... We first sat outside on the sidewalk but remarkably, it was too hot in the sun! But we were quickly accommodated inside. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Expected just a plain sidewalk cafe with regular fare. Down home meals with a very creative twist. The Dancing Midge was a surprise on so many levels!

There's not many places to go in Millport in the winter unless you fancy a walk. We were on route to the bus stop home after a lovely day out when we came across this delightful cafe and were happy to get a seat. The food may seem a little more expensive but the food is worth it. Well presented... More

My husband and I love our visits to the midge, great range of breakfasts from porridge , American, full Scottish...as for the toasties yum yum . Can't fault the place and love the view. Our only disappointments are its always mobbed and we worry we won't get a seat and it doesn't open in the evening 😪
