We ate here twice in a week. Recommended by our driver, Luis, and he hit the nail on the head. We were the only gringos in the place both times. Incredible grilled meats and very authentic dishes, plus the best guacamole we'd had the whole trip, fabulous desserts and at prices we couldn't believe. Excellent service in an open kitchen... My wife and I have sampled many of the fine dining choices in this slightly upscale area, but nothing ever comes close to El Tacote. It is just a family style restaurant with great steaks, perfect guacamole, and wonderful staff. The building is pretty basic, but I would sit on a log under a tarp to eat here. I wish... More

We go to Tlaquepaque for shopping and hire a driver/translator to take us to the factories and shop in the surrounding area. One afternoon he took us to his favorite restaurant for lunch. The meal was straight forward good Mexican, excellently prepared and the service was very good. A year later we were back in town and I wanted to... More

We normally go to have lunch or dinner to El tacote, we know the owner and his family, he is the chef - parrilla guy there, all the meals are delicious and tasty either is it is an Arrachera, Tbone, Ryb Eye, New York or Churrasco (even I do not like the churrasco very much) or some meat, chicken, or... El Tacote is ALWAYS on our list of places to visit when we are in the area. Its food is rich and tasty. Choice variety is average, but we have never had a bad or merely average entree; wait staff consistently friendly and helpful. Usually quiet, but for times Mariachi bands visit. a good value for your dollar (or should... More

This is great place for a meat lover. Sizzling plater of steak, arrachera and chorizo was fabulous. Love their guacamole too. Other times here I have had their tacos . I do not think they serve any seafood. It is a casual restaurant. No margaritas but plenty of Tequilas. Very inexpensive . One my favorites.

Do not be misled by my rating of 3 out of 5, this place is a MUST try. Their meat is cooked and seasoned to perfection every single time, and the service is very friendly not to mention clean and on time. My main concern is the lack of a full bar, (No cocktails, only beer) which is actually quite... More
