We were not staying at the Hermitage however we had booked int for the Planetarium show so decided to have dinner first. The room was lovely, great views , intimate and romantic. Very good service. The food was good but not exceptional. We shared the steak tartare for entree (have had better) , Salmon for main which was slightly dry... More

High expectations when my hotel recommended me to go there. I has the beef tartare. It was tasteless. I had to had salt and pepper to taste. I also had the sole as the fish for the day. It tasted fishy. I am sure if they want to do a better job, they can. What was presented was not acceptable... More

We dined at the Panorama room whilst staying at the Hermitage. That was a buffet restaurant as well but it was busy and rather cafeteria like. We found the service quite good at the Panorama. The waiter was jovial as we lamented lost opportunities because of terrible weather. (Our fly-over got cancelled). There was a good menu and wine options... More

Skip the tour group cafeteria and book all your dinners at the room with a view. Super friendly servers (ask them why they are hear and get a great story) and carefully prepared food make this well worth the premium. I wish the USA National Parks had anything half as good.

Had the ceviche, salad, venison steak, rib eye steak etc, everything is really good! Great service, jaw dropping view, good wine and reasonable price for what you get.

The restaurant offers tables with great mountain views. Unfortunately that is all I can recommend. The service is pitiful as can be seen by the entire glasses we drank from during the meal. Pix attached. Wait staff running around asking same questions. Hard to determine who our waiter was. The food was well presented. The pork belly could use a... More

Dear appywanderers, Oh dear, it seems we certainly dropped the ball on this occasion. Please accept my sincere apologies. We do have a lot of new staff who have just come on board for the season, but generally they have been performing very well. You have highlighted some areas that we definitely need to improve on and further training is... More

Not a lot of choices when it comes to Mt Cook dining however as we were staying at the Hermitage we decided to give the Panorama a try. The setting and views are incredible. Food was nice, the venison cheeks had great flavour but were tougher than cheeks should be, more like a medium cooked steak, my swimmer crab entree... More

We had an end-of-tour dinner with our group at The Panorama. As a result, it was a set menu which was fine. The fish was done very well. Their service was good, but it seemed to me that more training was necessary since we were there at the beginning of their busy season. The wine list is good with a... More

Expensive, but food was great. Well presented, friendly staff, fresh food, nice views. Get there early for a window seat! although the restaurant is located on the right side of the hermitage - you can only see the tip of Mt Cook from here but still nice.
