Have my son and hubby on our way to visiting granny, stop for a refreshment, completely surprised by how clean the toilet is, consider how crowed the place was. Little guy has been totally actuated by "candy land" baking cabinet, we decided to have lunch instead, Hubby had Big breaky and I choose the creamy roasted mushroom, the flavor and... More

Leaving Wellington and heading over the Rimutaka Hill Road you arrive into the town of Featherston, the gateway into the Wairarapa region. Everest is a bakery, cafe and bistro, and it's one of the first shops you'll see on your left hand side. It takes credit card and has seating inside or outside, they also have a toilet if needed.... Popped in for a quick lunch, and the staff happily obliged our request for a quick turn around. There were a couple of disappointments - weird spelling/grammar in the menu and quite a lot of the food out in the open with flies landing on it, but our food was tasty and not too expensive. Pleasant location on the main... More

We were recommended this place by a local while passing through on a road trip. The place was busy so we thought this is usually a good sign. But in this case, it was not. We were told that we couldn't have our food heated or toasted when we were frozen due to the rainy weather. Since when can the... More

Thanks for your comment. In your case to any general cafes and restaurants bring your own meal would not be able to consume on site. Unless you have special conditions of your dietary. However there was not a case during the time of your comment. As a manager. I was working in this busy Easter weekend. I did not have... More

Nearly every tick here. The food we had was AMAZING we had a burger and Fish and Chips - both way above expectations. The service was FANTASTIC, the young man who served us was obviously nervous but really well trained and really polite and attentive. One sleight downside was that the coffee was truly average if not awful, it was... More

Have a drive to Wairarapa to avoidi suffocated rain, found this place out of no where, cannot believe how busy it is when we walk in, like whole world decided coming to this little place at the same time. Soon we found out why, all onside baking that shining and waving to us in the glass cabinet, fresh baked bread,... More

On our family vacation to NZ we found so many quaint cafes. The Everest Cafe was so fresh and delicious. After probably one of the most breathtaking drives through a mountain pass we came down into this cute town. Seeing the Everest cafe had over 4 stars in review we decided we needed a place to relax and breathe normally... More

After a night in Martinborough, we grabbed brekkie here before walking to the train station. It was a complete hidden gem, in the absolute middle of nowhere, the town is so quiet. We ordered and service was very fast, no alterations to the menu but thats ok as the dishes were done so well.

I wrote a review earlier this morning. I was quite scathing in my review. I should have phoned the café before I submitted the review. I have since done this, and on discussing this with the duty manager, I have somewhat moderated my opinion. I still maintain the chips were expensive for what we got but the pies are reheated...
