My treat is to get 20-30 minutes for a mid morning coffee, sit in a pleasant in-door/outdoor setting and enjoy excellent coffee and wonderful cafe food. The service is excellent and the price is fair. A great place to stop, savour the aroma's and enjoy a wee respite.

Firstly the espresso was excellent. Which isn't always easy to find. However, the service was so slow I thought I was going to die with old age before getting served. Then one of the girls picked her nose while front of house.

When I get charged $17 for a BLT I expect TWO slices of bread.. Not one. Everything seems overpriced. Me and my girlfriends used to have lunch there every week for a month and no matter what I ordered I was outraged at what I was getting on my plate. The BLT was the last straw... Unbelievable. Staff very nice... More

Can only speak from first impressions and the coffee as that's all I had. Loved the layout and options at the place, plenty of size and variety. Next time will give a go with the breakfast.

Recommended for a lunch. Perfect for our needs ( travelling Wellington to Napier ). Yummy creamy mushrooms on toast with a bacon side for me and Eggs Benedict for my wife. Faultless. and served with great coffee. Thoroughly recommend.

Tired and hungry after traipsing around the shops, we chose to stop at The Village Grinder for some sustenance. We sat outside in the sunshine with no wind and eagerly devoured our lunch choices. We all selected the chicken, leek and brie pie and it was to die for! A generous deep pie portion which was more than enough to... More

I've been here a few times for coffee and it's been OK, but our breakfast was truly terrible. I had eggs benedict which had soggy muffins, pale undercooked bacon, average poached eggs and a litre of gloopy supermarket hollandaise drowning everything. My wife had soggy, halfcooked french toast with more sad bacon. It was dreadful. We were specially gutted as... More
