Whenever we were in the Donovaly region - summer and winter - we always visited this restaurant as a returning guest. We always got very tasty and delicious Slovak food. Last time, however, we had a very serious and disappointing insult when we arrived at...the restaurant. One of the employees at the counter - Her name was Lucia - did not want to accept our advance table reservation, confirmed in writing by e-mail. She was so rude, impolite and dismissive that we just stood there in shock, watching and listening to Her absurd behavior as a host. Eventually another waitress - Her name was Eva - helped us and quickly resolved the issue by rearranging the tables etc and we were seated. In complete contrast to Lucia's demeanor, She was very kind and polite, supportive, and provided perfect, excellent, prompt service. In the end it turned out that the reservation was found, but Lucia did not come to our table to apologize, saying sorry, etc. I sent a written complaint to the owner and manager of the restaurant, 100% sure She read my message, but She didn't even bother to reply! I have to say that this kind of behavior and attitude is not befitting of such a good restaurant and will put off guests and of course tarnish its reputation. Such a waitress would have been fired immediately to avoid ruining the restaurant's reputation. Unfortunately, something has really changed here, it was very disappointing - despite the delicious food, we will probably skip it in the future and advise others to find another restaurant with nicer service!More

We made a lunch stop at Koliba Goral, which appears to be a ski resort area. The restaurant is situated in a unique lodge-style log building with lots of unusual decor and furnishings. We ordered halusky, which was very tasty and filling. The wait staff...were generally cheerful, but seemed to be in over their heads, resulting in considerable confusion and mixed-up orders.More

Cute Alpine feel to this restaurant. Our driver recommended the mushroom soup and it was amazing. We tried this soup at several other places on our 3 week European vacation and none came close. We also shared the small dumplings with bacon, kraut and sour...cream which were very good. ( I would order the regular size if visiting again though). Everything tasted homemade and made up for the average service.More

Well, where to start ?! First of all, the Koliba is beautiful, flowers, decoration and the view. Unfortunately, waitresses are so rude, unfriendly and seem to be bothered to be here. I ordered pork ribs MARINATED in garlic, when it came it was tasteless and...blunt.. after mentioning this to the waitress she said she will go to the kitchen and ask. When she came back she said that they only sprinkle a bit of garlic over the top while making them ready. I was shocked cause the menu says MARINATED (you don’t have to be a chef to understand what means marinated). Another waitress came and very rudely asked what’s the problem, I explained her politely that the meat is blunt and tasteless, her face expression (rolling eyes) spoke for thousands words!!! How rude !!! She stated that the meat is marinated but while being cooked the garlic taste disappears🤦🏻‍♀️ with a proper attitude she asked if I’m gonna finish it or she can take it away. No question if I want to order something else whatsoever. Never coming back to this place ! I hope the management read these reviews and will take some actions !!!More

We simply loved it! The staff was so kind! They were smiling, helped with our choices if we asked. The menu is on 4 languagaes (inc.English, German, Hungarian). The service is very fast, we had no idea how they are doing it. The meal was...deleicios, everytime we were there. We stepped by for dinner twice and once for launch. The ordered different meals every time, all of them were great and deleicious. The portuons were huge! We couldnt eat all if it. The meat was delicious just like the traditional slovakian meals and the deserts. The athnosphere of the building is lovely. After the first night, we soent all our meals there.More

Food was ok but not the best from far, the price was not equal with the quaility of the service or the food.

We stopped at Koliba Goral for a quick coffee in the afternoon, and despite the lack of customers (one table only actually), we were not served fast and the waitress seemed quite disappointed that we only ordered coffee and soft drinks. The weather was lovely...and we were sitting outside and enjoying the view. The place is really cutely made and cosy - that I have to admit. But service is really a downside of the whole experience - we had to get up and go to the staff to ask for an ashtray, then to ask for the bill and all that time they were standing at the entrance of the restaurant talking to each other, not paying any attention to our attempts to call them. I will not visit again. Two points goes to the effort they put into making it look like a fairy tale house.More

We came here with friends, 4 of us are 4 different type of food. Some of it was ok, the potato pancake with mushroom souce was terrible. I am sure it was made of frosen, pre-heated ingredients. Beside this they were slow and a bit...rude. Never again!More

This is beautifully decorated Slovak typical restaurant with nice exterior and beautiful wood interior. We stopped for dinner. Pirohy are not house made but waitress assured us that they are from local source. Pirohy with bacon, sour-cream and dill were good but not excellent. Service...was kind and fast and bryndzove halusky what i had in the past were very good. So combination if nice interior, food and service is very good but pirohy must be better.More

We stopped here while driving through Slovakia on a tour. It ended up being the best meal I had on our whole trip that spanned across multiple countries and locations. I don’t remember the exact name of what I got but it was beef or...pork medallions with dumplings and absolutely amazing.More

We had lunch at Koliba Goral today. The atmosphere was incredible. The room we ate in was timbered and it looked like the inside of a rustic lodge. The food seemed to vary by what you ordered. The traditional dishes were very good. I ordered...medallions of lamb and the meat was very tough and did not taste like lamb. They have one of the largest menus I have seen and the service was very good. Prices seemed reasonable.More
