I stayed at the Silken Thomas for 2 nights with my friend for a girls trip to Kildare and I can’t recommend this place highly enough. The accommodation was spotless with everything you could need provided: tea & coffee facilities, hairdryer (very important for the...ladies), hot shower and extremely comfortable beds. We dined in the restaurant both night and were impressed by the professional yet friendly staff, superb food and the best cocktails both North and South of the border!!!! We’re even planning our next trip in November!!!!!!More
I ate here a couple times on this trip,
I had the soup both times (potato leek was especially good), and my entrees were ribs one night and wings the other. The food was delicious (but honestly, get the appetizer portion of wings, I had...my work cut out for me with the dinner sized portion).
Prices were good and service was top notch.More
Myself and my girlfriend had a very disappointing evening meal here. We were shown to our table quite quickly after arrival, menu’s were provided and our orders were taken within 10 minutes which was great. Our main courses arrived within 5 minutes but this was...overshadowed by the fact my roast beef dinner was barely warm (let alone hot) and the portion size was tiny. I’m not someone that complains easily but this was ridiculous. When the drinks arrived, there was a mix-up with my girlfriend’s drink. We asked could this drink be taken back and replaced with what my girlfriend wanted. The waiter seemed helpful at first but after waiting over 25 minutes for the right drink to return, we ended up asking another waitress to get us the drink. This would be somewhat understandable if the staff were under pressure during a busy period in the restaurant but this was not the case. If it was any quieter, it would be empty. Our cocktails only needed to be ordered twice and we only waited 20 minutes so that was an improvement on 25. The only way is up I suppose.More

We had a wonderful stay at the Silken Thomas. Family stop over on the way from Donegal to Waterford. We stayed in two comfortable and well designed rooms in the postman’s cottage. We had an excellent dinner and breakfast in the Silken Thomas. The staff...were friendly and super helpful. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in the Kildare area.More
Triple room in the PostMasters House exceeded our expectation. We have never stayed in a 'pub' before but this was not a pub experience. We cannot say enough good things about the food....it was AMAZING, better than any 5* hotel I've ever stayed in and...did not feel guilty about having the fry in the mornings as it was the least greasy fry I've ever had. The staff were the best I have come across in a very long time....Beata & Val were just the most pleasant ladies as were all the other staff but sorry I can't remember their names.
Excellent venue, food, accommodation & staff.
Well Done Silken Thomas. Some more expensive hotels could learn a thing or two!!More

Pre booked with Caroline on the phone and as usual with Caroline everything we asked for was no problem 😊 very relaxed atmosphere covid friendly and professional friendly staff.. That was our second time this month to...eat in the outdoor dining area and always look forward to returning.. We had family over from Scotland and they were extremely impressed..More
Perfect for our girly night out, but would also visit with my family. Gorgeous setting. Plenty of seating. Loved the outside seating. Food was great. Quick service. Great staff. Good atmosphere. Cocktails were fab! I would 100% recommend this place.
My Family & I have been staying at 5⭐️ Hotel in the area and we decided to take a day trip to Newbridge & Kildare. We came across chapter 16 . Well all we can say is the food was better than what we had...in our 5⭐️ Hotel . It is definitely worth a visit , food was absolutely delicious and the service was exceptional.
All COVID-19 regulations in place.
Thank you for 5⭐️ Experience.More
