What a wonderful experience we have just had at Casual Seafood. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. Ana is an engaging, informative and attentive hostess. A truly superb evening, fantastic value and highly recommended.
After an initial difficulty with the restaurant not having our booking, we were found a table in this small establishment, on a parade of others, in the Montana Roja area. Plenty of parking too.
The waitress was terrific, friendly, efficient & knowledgeable. The menu is...small, consisting of generous sharing dishes & Portuguese cataplanas - (the cataplana is the name of the domed metal pot the dish is served in.)
Having been to Portugal in the past we were familiar with the cataplana, so the 3 of us chose to share 4 of the other dishes.
We accompanied this with a Portuguese white wine from the Douro, which the waitress was happy to let us try first.
Our 4 dishes were cod fish cakes, garlic prawns, tuna tataki & cod with black pudding & white beans. Each of the dishes were served separately, one after another, as we finished, unlike some other places, where all dishes are served at once. I prefer the way Casual does it.
All our dishes were freshly cooked & delicious, we cleared our plates, always a good sign. We declined dessert & settled for 3 double espressos.
We very much enjoyed our evening, great background music, fab food & service. Do go & try this little gem of a restaurantMore
We visited here at lunchtime and so it was quiet with only 2 other tables having drinks. The 2 tapas dishes we had were fabulous. The outstanding dish for me was the Tuna Tatiki - wow, it melted in the mouth. But the garlic prawns...were also very good and so much better than most of the ones you get elsewhere in town. The location was very convenient for us as we were staying in a villa nearby but it is a little out of the town centre. The lady who served us was lovely and explained each ingredient in the dishes. She recommended a white wine for me which was lovely.
My only small negative would be that the opening hours displayed in the window and on this site are incorrect. We tried to go again as it was so good but found that they were not open for lunch on that day, only in the evening. We were disappointed as it was our last day and had been looking forward to trying other dishes but I don't want to give any less than 5 stars as the food and service was so good.More
This restaurant excels at creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The hospitality is wonderful.
We shared the octopus pot and a dark chocolate brownie with a bottle of Portuguese wine.
A couple were celebrating their 52 year anniversary when we visited, and the owner...and chef popped a bottle of fizz for everyone to toast them. We thought that was beautiful, and surely a night to remember for the couple.
The most stunning seafood in the whole of Playa Blanca! From the moment we walked in, the hospitality was just amazing. From speaking perfect English- the beautiful owner (sorry I did not get her name) helped us choose the perfect dishes for us all. Which,...with 4 kids isn't easy. The seafood was the freshest, most stunning seafood flavours you will ever taste. We didn't want it to end!!! 100% recommend to every seafood lover out there. The Portuguese twist just made it so special!Even the chef made an appearance and i was so grateful to tell him how wonderful it was!!!
5 mins in a taxi from Playa Blanca- you can not miss this place!!!
5 stars... we give 100!! Can not wait to come back!!!!! 🤍More
This is an absolute gem. From the friendly, knowledgeable and passionate service to the outstanding Portuguese-style seafood.
We had marinaded tuna which was everything a ceviche should be - great textures and flavours. The garlic prawns were as they should be and partially de-shelled for...ease of eating - such a pleasant change from the way most restaurants serve their prawns here (swimming in olive oil). The star of the show was the cataplana - we had the one with coconut milk - wow!
What was really nice was that the chef came out to chat after service.
Easily the best meal we have had in Lanzarote.More
This place is just a delight! Small, well laid out restaurant run by Portuguese couple who obviously have a fantastic skills, passion and love for what they do.
From the moment we entered the restaurant we felt special, welcomed warmly by the co-owner who looked...after our every need throughout the experience. With a complete knowledge of the exact construction of each and every dish (it is a concise yet enticing menu) we were guided expertly with our selections, even told we had probably ordered too much (which was commendable - and proved correct!) so we removed one sharing dish accordingly.
When each dish arrived, it was beautifully presented and we were talked through the elements (Michelin style) and how the dish was constructed. We plumped for initial sharers of Salmon Poke and seafood lasagne which were both out of this world, full of freshness, flavourful and totally unique. Our main was a Seafood Cataplana for two (which we were advised would be great for 4 given the sharing starters we had ordered) - absolutely fantastic!!! The co-owner chef came to our table following our meal to ensure we had enjoyed the experience - and WOW, we certainly did!!
If you choose one restaurant in Playa Blanca, make this the one - a truly scrumptious meal.
Just a five minute €5 taxi ride from the centre out towards the lighthouse (and there are several places to grab a pre- dinner drink adjacent to the restaurant).More
Amazing!!!!! I looked for a local fish restaurant and this 1 seemed to come highly recommended…..and we weren’t disappointed. A small restaurant that I suggest you book as it was fully booked on the Monday night we went (I had pre booked but the couple...that had walked all the way from Playa Blanca hadn’t and had to get a taxi back).
We had 3 ‘starters’ and then the main pot. The food was fresh, tasty and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Run by a lovely Portuguese lady she was on hand to help if we needed it.
Would happily return should we come back to Lanzarote.More
Every so often, you find a perfect little restaurant - this is it. Totally unpretentious but completely passionate about what they do; this is the sort of local place that would raise house prices in the UK.
Four of us shared a super fresh ceviche...with a coriander and lime sorbet that converted out coriander-hating daughter. Tuna with a passion fruit sauce sounds weird but had us scraping our plates, and the garlic prawns were frankly indecent. Everything was delicious, including the steak with perfect, perfect chips and aioli. And the deconstructed lasagne had crispy pasta which had us fighting over the last bit. The dark chocolate brownie with coconut ice cream finished us off - I would cheerfully eat everything all over again. A total steal at 130 euros including a delicious white wine recommended by the hostess.More
