Chilli Chicken & Orecchiette pasta with spicy broccoli sauce Although this is not on the menu, it it worth asking for. The other dish that is highly recommended is Walnut and Bacon special You can ask for anything on the menu to be adapted and the homemade chilli sauce bottle has a spicy kick to it... Great atmosphere and the staff are funny and very enthusiastic

We have been going to Playa Blanca for 10 years and we have visited this restaurant on every occasion. The waiters are real characters and always make us feel welcome and the food is amongst the best I’ve ever eaten despite many trips to Italy. Absolutely recommend the cannelloni and the garlic pizza bread. We celebrated our daughter’s 19th birthday there this year as that was her choice of restaurant out of a wide selection!

We chose this from other reviews and we wanted authentic dishes. We were seated at the front of the lower terrace with a great view. Two Peroni came quickly, whilst we chose our dishes from a varied and well priced menu. One Lasagna. One Farfelle pasta with Salmon. A half bottle of white wine. Food was served on authentic plates and we were offered fresh parmesan and fresh black pepper from a huge pepper mill (kitch but fun). Food was cooked well and very tasty. The wine went well with the dishes and we weren't rushed at all. One to revisit.

We are very lucky and have holidayed in Playa Blanca about twice a year since 2009 and love it. We really enjoy our family meals out and our favourite restaurant owners have got to know us well. Having walked out of L’Artista 6 years ago for rudeness (before any order was even taken-and this isn’t something I have ever done before) I said never again. My family quite rightly told me I was a Dinosaur and tonight we ventured back again tonight. The food was genuinely excellent but without going into details yet again the service was poor. I have a small hospitality ‘side-line’ business and if any of my staff were as rude as the owners were to us tonight then they wouldn’t be asked back to work again. This morning we bumped into another family that our kids are at school with and they too holiday here twice a year. They said you need to go and eat here but ignore the staff. I’m not absolutely sure this is the recipe for a successful restaurant and they still manage to be busy BUT if good food and SERVICE is what you expect give it a swerve.

The boss is horrible and should never treat her customers the way she did. We visited last week for a birthday meal and when the food arrived and we said it was wrong she shouted and pointed for AT LEAST a minute in a 14 year olds face telling her that “you are wrong not me” and we are liars etc. She tried to tell us we ordered carbonara even when she’s a vegetarian and so would not eat bacon. The lasange had hardly any meat in it and the pasta was not fresh while the aglio olio seemed to be re heated and a rubbery texture all blobbed together with no taste. When a new dish came everyone else had already finished their meal and we were still missing another dish and a garlic bread, which never turned up as the starter so we walked out and only payed for the food that was actually eaten (which we have never done before) the waiter was nice but the owner/boss (blonde hair) was extremely rude and disrespectful. do not come here unless you want to leave in tears!

My girlfriend, who is a Playa Blanca resident and I visited L'artista for an expected delicious meal for my last night. The food was as expected and the service attentive. However after the dessert we were asked if we would like some drinks as is the custom in the majority of restaurants in Lanzarote, and are complimentary. I had limoncello and my girlfriend had a cava. I mentioned on numerous occasions that they are gratis, ie on the house and complimentary. But on receiving the bill we found that we had been charged over 10€ for them and 9€ for two scoops of cheap nondescript vanilla ice cream as an accompliment to the profiteroles which we had for dessert. When we complained about the charge and asked to speak to the man in charge, he refused to speak to us and instead informed one of the waiters that the charge would stay on the bill. I found that most disappointing that he would/could not talk to us and that a charge was applied for supposed complimentary drinks and extortionate charge on the ice cream disgraceful. We paid the bill and still tipped the waiter who was very understanding and apologetic, but this will be the last time we ever visit L'Artista in Playa Blanca again. Neither will my girlfriend be recommending the restaurant to any of her friends and guests in the future, which she had done on many previous occasions.

Having visited this quirky restaurant several times over the years, we knew exactly what to expect. It’s set slightly back from the main promenade but clearly visible and accessible by some wide steps. The whitewashed walls, sky blue trim and blue LED lighting ensure it stands out. Some tables have sea views, particularly the outside deck. While they accept no reservations, it clearly doesn’t deter diners. At various points throughout our meal there was a queue waiting for a free table, sometimes as long as 15-20 people, although none had to wait too long. We sat on the small outside deck this time but have previously dined inside, where the restaurant extends over several floors, with tables crammed into every nook and cranny. It helps create a somewhat chaotic atmosphere that is only reinforced by the gentle ribbing of customers and general buffoonery of the staff. Although it was only my wife and I on this occasion, I remember our children’s amusement at the staff antics on past visits. That said, the staff were polite, friendly and efficient, despite seemingly rushed off their feet. As for the food, the menu is standard Italian fare, with generously sized portions of homemade pasta, a wide range of pizzas and a handful of meat dishes. For starters we ordered garlic bread (thin, crispy and topped with tomato) and beautifully ripe avocado with prawn. Both were delicious and a little larger than we really wanted/needed! My wife chose one of the pasta “specials”, which I’m told was very tasty. She observed that the pasta was definitely homemade. I sampled the Americana pizza, which was well cooked, cheesy, meaty and spicy in equal measure. A couple of glasses of the house wines (rose and red) topped things off nicely. Good-value, no frills, Italian food served with a smile in a relaxed atmosphere. Recommended.

I was so looking forward to coming here all week after reading such wonderful reviews only to be let down massively. They never brought our starter but brought our main courses then left our food on the side for 15 minutes whilst they made our starter again. When the main courses arrived again, my salmon pasta was luke warm. My husband, son and daughter all had pizza so there wasn't a problem but I ordered salmon pasta and you expect them to make a fresh one but no instead I was faced with the same plate of food and a rude woman who said I ate nearly all of it but in reality ate half of it but was stone cold half way through. I could not eat anymore. The owner never wrote our order down, never apologised. Then the bill came and we were told not to go back! They knocked off my main from the bill but it ruined our night. I don't usually complain but I would rather have bought a fast food takeout than spend our hard earned money with such rude people. They totally messed our order up. Why not write our order down first not just try remember it in your head. Horrendous service, totally unprofessional will never go back!

Ate here at lunchtime after arriving in Lanzarote on the ferry from Fuerturventura. Absolutely loved this restaurant! The food was amazing - quite possibly the best pizza I have ever eaten! Really reasonably priced too with two large beers, two glasses of wine and two pizzas at €39 (tips excluded). Definitely worth a visit and I would 100% recommend it to others.

We’ve been staying at an all inclusive but decided to go out on one of our last nights and we are very glad we chose to come here. I read a review saying the garlic bread was rubbish and not worth €8.50 but we ordered it anyway and it was great!! Tomato and garlic on pizza bread with chilli oil, it was really tasty and definitely worth it. The mains were the highlight though, Americano pizza and Tagliatelle pasta were both fantastic. Plates were empty by the end. The service was great too without feeling like they were over attentive but the staff were always paying attention to if you looked like you needed something. Would definitely recommend.

L'Artista is a good Italian restaurant. The owner is Italian and so is the manager. The pizza man is from Romania but still does a great focaccia with Rosemary and salt... the real Italian focaccia the main chef changed few times.... depending of the season you can get very good "primi" or average quality... We will see the next time Good value for money

What has happened to this restaurant!!! Have been going here for years and always had excellent, tasty dishes however visited recently and the ‘specials’ were not special anymore - bland, tasteless and cheap ingredients. The service was so rushed we were out in an hour and only allowed to sit outside downstairs. Such a shame as this was a real gem.

Disappointing experience here, in fact ended up leaving without father in law receiving a meal! He ordered a well done steak. Initially it didn’t arrive with the rest of the food but even after the delay (with no apology) it was undercooked, more like rare. After sending back it was returned (maybe 5/10 minutes later) same steak with sauce over hop without having been altered! Another customer with a view to the kitchen had watched the steak being placed to the side in the hatch and returned! This was explained to the waiter (I think owner) who was fairly dismissive and sent it back again. By this time the rest of us had finished our meal. What really surprised us was that even after all this, the same piece of meat that had been passed back and forward was once again returned with additional sauce on the top. We had all been finished for over 10 minutes at this point and my father in law refused the meal. Quite concerning behavior and attitude by what we thought was a decent restaurant.

The food is ok and location good. But not cheap and what was meant to be garlic bread was charged at pizza price. The service is ok, but maybe too intrusive, constantly working for a tip, or at least the way it seemed to us. A bit fake it felt. The bill was more than we thought the meal was worth. But nothing wrong with the food, it’s ok, just not enough to entice us back again. El Tonel serve far better pizzas, with a better atmosphere and cheaper. Each to their own….

Great food, very typically Italian, the melanzane parmigiana was delicious. The service was excellent too. We were only in Playa Blanca for a week, so only came here late in our holiday, but we met another couple there who had visited Playa Blanca often and they said this was the best Italian in Playa Blanca. Well done to the team x
