Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The chowder here is fantastic. We come back every year for the delicious food and excellent service. I would highly recommend here for a spot for lunch.

I came here for lunch planning on sitting outside, but the weather drove me indoors. I am still a little nervous about dining indoors in crowded places due the Covid crisis, but this place was fantastically well run. I was accommodated immediately despite the cafe...being very busy…and despite the fact I was a party of one…I find quite often that many places are not that bothered going the extra mile to facilitate one person 🙄…anyway, the owners here were fantastic, all Covid regulations followed to perfection and I felt thoroughly at ease in my visit here. As for the food I had the special of crab claws and salad which was just stunning. Best meal I’ve had in a long time. I cannot wait to go back!More

Great little spot for lunch and obviously very popular. They dont take bookings so just turn up and you wont be long waiting for a table. Food is very good and service efficient and friendly. Place is kept spotless and they check covid documents as...they should. Very nice spot.More

Ate here yesterday and I'm still smiling. The view, the food and most importantly the staff- all incredible. Special crab claws are a must try if they're on the menu. Got chatting to the owner Paul who is an awfully nice man, so sincere and...just has a lovely way about him. All staff were equally impressive in fairness and couldn't do enough to help. We will be back for sure.More

The Cottage is a smallish cafe type of place. Even though we ate here 4 times, I wish I could remember the owners name but a nicer woman you could not meet. She & her staff are warm & friendly. The food was amazing especially...the Fisherman's pie and the views of Slievemore and Dugort beach while you eat are amazing. Highly highly recommended.More

My husband and I spent a week in this lovely cottage on Achill Island. Our host, Paris, was very responsive to any questions we had and Sabine, the housekeeper, made sure that we were comfortable. We were greeted upon arrival with a chilled bottle of...Prosecco and a brochure describing activities around the island and restaurants that were nearby. We definitely recommend this comfortable cottage in a beautiful location at the base of Slievemore Mountain on Achill Island. Can’t forget to mention the darling sheep that are everywhere! Love them!More

A great little cafe. Waitresses kept on their toes by the owner/manager. Lots of small places like this forget to sweep 🧹 after a family have been seated and never been in a cafe that steams the glasses clean, but the Cottage did. Good Americano...and Cake 🍰 The breakfast 🍳, snack and lunch 🍴 options looked good to.More

Had lunch today with a friend and our children, and although it was busy at lunch time, the waitresses could not have done more for us. The food was very tasty, served with a smile, and the tea and coffee was perfect. The desserts were...all scoffed, I had the raspberry and chocolate cheesecake, a very generous slice, and it was just right! Caoimhe, one of the waitresses, was extra attentive to both of my children, and my eldest child just loved her, Caoimhe was just brilliant at keeping her entertained!More

We found this little gem after being told about it from the owners of the seal caves campsite which is just down the road. We had coffee and the most beautiful homemade scones. Service was friendly and attentive. Definitely worth a visit when in Achill...and the beautiful view is an added bonus!More

Nice seafood with a nice view. A short stroll from the nearby campsite at seal caves. Recommend the seafood pie or achill mackerel.

Completely overrated - the staff were nice and pleasant- the food however was nothing special- a panini menu is not something to write home about and clearly there wasn’t a system to cater for the number of people who wanted a table

We had lunch today in The Cottage, Duggort. It was very busy but we got a table immediately. We were greeted on entering by friendly staff. Our order was taken promptly and was served in about 8 minutes. The food was delicious and large portion...sizes were served. I would not hesitate to go back again and I highly recommend this place for a bite to eat. Excellent staff..More
