Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Really bad food. Was like something fromthe 80s! Place is really well located and could do with someone to take it over and make something of it1

We had a evening meal of fish and chips and seafood chowder and pizza. The food was great with the exception of the pizza - It wasn't eaten.. The fish was excellent and the chips. They had good glasses of Guinness and the service was...great too. Place was spotless. Overall well worth a stop for something to eat or drink. Great views from outside also.More

Visited the The Cross several times during a week on Achjill Island. Friendly Pub, good bar food. The Cross also features the Emerald Sourdough Cafe during the morning-lunch hour. Best coffee and baked goods, including loafs of sourdough bread. The cafe is definitely a morning...destination, Wednesday to Sunday!More

Best seafood chowder in Ireland. We went for lunch it was fabulous. So good we returned for dinner and had the lamb hotpot. All dishes freshly prepared, locally sourced meat & fish, good size portions and value for money. The staff are friendly and helpful....We would defo return again and again thanks.More

Stopped in here to grab something quick for lunch and was blown away by the best seafood chowder I have ever had. If you are a fish lover this is a must taste! Plenty of fish and freshly cooked. So good we went back at...dinner time and had the lamb hot pot which was also divine - this place is a real unexpected gem!More

Great service, food average and unfortunately Guinness glasses soapy. Nice views from terrace but building needs a touch of love as run down a bit.

A fabulous pub. Recommended by local B&B owner and it did not disappoint. Service was excellent and they were able to accommodate a very large family group at short notice. Very welcoming for all ages in our group. An enclosed deck/garden area at the back...worked well for the children during our meal/drinks. Music on Sat evening was also a big hit with our group.More

We ate at the cross a number of times on our holiday and enjoyed every meal. I don’t eat meat and the menu had a few options for me which was great. I especially enjoyed the beetroot burger and the vegetable curry. My wife and...daughter enjoyed their meals also. The staff are friendly and the cakes are really good and they have some gluten free options. Well done on putting the effort in and hopefully we will be back for more in OctoberMore
