So, as I mentioned in my Old Bakehouse review Ireland was in the middle of a heatwave that had managed to run from Wednesday to Sunday. We had decided to go on a "beach holiday" back to Spanish Point beach and make the most of...the incredible weather. On Friday we once again made our way back to the beach for the entire day of sunning and swimming and then once again made reservations for a beautiful dinner out. This time we were joined by another friend and we went back to Doonbeg Co. Clare and went to Tubridy's Bar and Restaurant. From the street all you see is the bar and you think...fish and chips and pub food. However, you would be fooled. Once you make your way through the pub you walk into a beautiful dining room that is very upscale and soothing. We had reservations for 6 pm and when we arrived we were seated. The place was already humming and the restaurant was quickly filling up. We placed our orders and then we waited for our dinners. We did order starters. I had the ravioli stuffed with crab...folks this was beautiful. My only disappointment was that there wasn't more of it. Mary and our friend Ellen split the crab claws. Everything was fresh. Simply delicious. The only disappointment was that we had to wait for 45 minutes for dinner. We suspect that the order wasn't placed right after taking the order but, I must say the food that came out was worth the wait. I had rump of lamb as did Mary and our friend Ellen had Hake. Absolutely gorgeous!!!! Everything was cooked to perfection. And folks, that is what it's all about at the end of the day. The waitress/server was truly delightful and had a beautiful smile. It was the perfect end to a perfect day. This is another gem of West Clare and I highly recommend you make your way back to Doonbeg for a spectacular meal. Bon Appetit!More

Highly recommend a visit here for food if in Doonbeg. A really comfortable restaurant. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, I had the lamb rump, so tasty!! Husband and son had the steak, both said it was delicious 😋 and...my daughter had the goujons which she loved and it was a generous portion. I would advise booking in advance, it's a busy spot. We ate from their take away on our first night, this was really good too, the fish and chips were excellent but I thought the portion size on the chips could have been better for the price. Will definitely visit again in the future and will look forward to it when I get the chance 🙂More

We first visited this bar, 30 years ago. Tommy, still serves the pints. He has a talent for signing Guinness with your name. Beer is well-kept, especially the Guinness, which is smooth, (not like UK version). It has a high standard restaurant, with a good...menu. If you want a takeaway, it also has that. Hygiene standard is 5*. Don't turn up, expecting to get into the restaurant, it gets full very quickly, so book early to avoid disappointment. Enjoy a pub, that has been run by the family since 1777.More

First off they have a sign saying no dogs. Come on Ireland needs to be more dog friendly. But above all AVOID the “chipper” on the premises. Frozen chips n burgers thrown into fryers. €18 for fake breast of chicken burger quarter pounder - which...was TINY and 2 bags of chips - save money and go to Aldi the food is way better.More

My partner and I went to Tubridys on Friday evening for a pre theatre show dinner. We had a drink in the pub which is cosy and welcoming.I was hugely surprised to see such a large and beautifully decorated restaurant at the back of this...typical Irish pub! The waitress explained that it was only their first night open for the new season....honestly you would not have thought so. We were served drinks and bread to start. The waitress was full of chat and craic which was lovely. I ordered the crab & prawn ravioli to start and my partner had the goats cheese tartlet. It was honestly the best starter I've ever had. Chunks of crab and prawns in a perfectly Al dente pasta shell. The bisque was light but full of flavour. The goats cheese tasted like it was whipped which was so delicious and had chunks of beetroot accompanying it. For mains my partner had the fish and chips. The batter was so crispy and light. I had the pan fried hake which was huge, perfectly cooked and so flavour some. We had eaten in Trump's Hotel the weekend beforehand and I can happily say this food was 100times nicer. I cannot wait to go back to have such wonderful food and service.More
