We visited The Wishing Tree on our this evening in Michemvi, lovely location along the beach as usual. Cosy and attractive restaurant & friendly staff. We chose to share a mixed seafood pasta as a ‘starter’ from the first course menu. It was delicious, packed with seafood and a huge portion. We both ordered fish curry for main, again this was a huge portion. It wasn’t mixed seafood, but there was lots of fish. We were both stuffed. We ended dinner with our first glass of red wine in Zanzibar, served chilled it was delicious. A great dining experience.

We had dinner with my wife at The Wishing Tree several evenings during our stay at Shanuo Bungalow on Pingwe Beach in Zanzibar. We fell in love with this place the first evening....and we never gave it up. The location, very colourful, is directly on the beach, sheltered from the wind but not from the evocative noise of the waves. The cuisine is a mix of Italian, local and international cuisine. Particularly recommended as starters are avocado and chapati, as a first course macaroni with fish sauce and as main courses, Swahili fish and the catch of the day, and as dessert the passio fruit cheesecake. That said, no dish we've tried has ever disappointed us! A glass of white wine is also recommended. Very kind staff. Very relaxing atmosphere indeed. Excellent value for money, even when compared to local prices: first courses including fish no more than 28k TSh (10-11 euros), main course no more than 35k TSh (13-14 euros) excluding grilled fish for two and the cicadas, starters under 20k TSh (less than euros). In 5 evenings we never spent more than 20 euros each. It is possible to pay by card with a 3% fee, adjusted to the high average cost of exchanging or withdrawing shillings.

The perfect place for your holiday in Zanzibar

For me and my son it was the perfect holiday. We stayed in the little lodge and had a great time. The room is redone several times and every evening you find a thermal bottle of fresh water. Two beach towels and two fans available (although there is air conditioning and fans in the rooms). Breakfast with your feet on the sand is fabulous: you are welcomed with smoothies and fresh fruit and then crepes, toast, cakes and biscuits. Then we had lunch and dinner here several times with a very interesting menu (perfectly cooked fresh pasta, fantastic fish and shellfish). When I return to Zanzibar I will come HERE!

A special place to have a meal in Paje. My fiancé and I had a cozy engagement dinner here with a few friends and family and the owner went above and beyond to ensure all of our bellies were full and that all of us had a great time. The restaurant is uniquely decorated and the ambience is so lovely overlooking the sea. The food was delicious, especially the pasta (ravioli was to die for) and all the three types of grilled fishes that was served. All the staff were friendly, including the very well-fed restaurant dog Rocky. A hidden gem that’s definitely worth visiting!

Delicious restaurant, with beautiful sea views and tastefully decorated, located close to Pingwe beach, one of the least chaotic in Zanzibar. We really had a great dinner here. The vibe of the restaurant is very relaxed, great music, nice places to sit. But the food... Oh, it was amazing. Best pasta I've had in a long time. We started with some guacamole, which is an unexpected dish for this type of cuisine. But it tasted great. As main dishes we had the fish ragu pasta and the lasagne. Paired with a bottle of good Merlot wine. I must say, it was absolutely delicious! All of it home made, and it tasted very fresh. Highly recommended! Tastefully decorated room, directly on the beach. We found it by chance and returned almost every night of our holiday. Freshly cooked dishes is with great ingredients!
