We had been recommended Gastrobar 13 and it did not disappoint. We booked but it turned out that being out of season this wasn't necessary. We chose to sit outside in the hidden courtyard which is under the cover of dense wisteria, so it's shaded...and sheltered, but still outdoors and as it gets dark, the lights suspended from the branches make for a lovely cosy atmosphere. We chose a selection of 5 tapas dishes and the waiter kindly advised that we should think about adding some rice, salad or patatas bravas (cubed potatoes, deep fried) so we also added some rice and some patatas bravas which turned out to be ideal additions to our order. Probably because the restaurant was quiet, our food arrived quickly and mostly at the same time, instead of the staggered way tapas is usually served, but that did nothing to take away from our enjoyment of the meal. Every item we chose was delicious and the quantities were perfect for the three of us. We finished off our meals with a dessert, again beautifully presented and very enjoyable. The staff were all polite, friendly and helpful, the place was rustic and the food delicious. Highly recommended.More
Friendly welcoming staff. Food was good. Our favourite was the shrimp dish. Also enjoyed excellent coffees made with rum & Bailey's.
3 of us enjoyed an excellent meal. We chose 6 dishes (which was plenty) including the chorizo, grilled prawns, octopus, burrata and tomato salad. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere buzzy. I would definitely go back and would recommend to anyone thinking of trying...it.More
Food was amazing and staff really helpful, would eat here every day if I could. Couldn’t fault any of the food, it was so fresh and the beer and wine was excellent too. Will definitely be back
We visit every time we’re in Alvor and always excellent , no different this time. Picked 5 dishes and they where great. We had a excellent chocolate fondant with raspberry ice cream.
We visited on an evening after a very rainy day...secret garden was unfortunately closed but we had a fab dinner indoors. Cod wrapped in prosciutto, tuna steak tatiki, quesidillas and lamb tagine - amazing. So relaxing, staff lovely. One of the waiters asked if we'd...like to see the secret garden...so nice. Would recommend.More
We have been here many times in the past but have been unable to come for various reasons for 5 years covid being one… we absolutely love this restaurant it is by far the best tapas in the village, food is amazing and service atmosphere and...vibe second to none, unfortunately we where not able to sit in the garden area as it had been raining hard all day, didn’t spoil the experience.. don’t listen to the negative reviews go there embrace the whole experience and chill out you will enjoy it immensely.. dates in bacon are a must… keep up the great work.. we have already booked for another visit before we go home.More
We had looked forward to our visit after reading all the positive reviews. Firstly we were told that chef’s Specials were not available because of the DJ.. “.a chap playing a laptop”. My wife’s choice came 15 minutes before mine so I enjoyed watching her...eat, whilst picking the leaves out of her dinner falling from the vegetation above. I ordered meatballs for 10€ and got 4 with a handful of rocket which to be fair was average and would have cost less than 3€ to make. As for the couvert… well Doritos and a dip for 3€ and 5 slices of bread.. a grab bag is 1.10€ in Pingo. I have to say it feels like a case of the Empire’s New Clothes. I’ve had better, quality and prices at … Al Tapas, TapÀboca and Tasca Morais. I got home and made myself a sandwich.More
Dear sir: - It is written on the menu that the Chef's selection of 4 tapas for 12€ is not available when we have events. Calling the Dj with video projections a "chap playing a laptop" shows a deep lack of knowledge of all the...More
We had a lovely meal , 5 dishes and that was enough for the 2 of us . Made a nice change from the fish /veg and meat and veg options around the town .
Had a beautiful meal - lovely outdoor seating. Tapas were gorgeous and staff were lovely. Would really recommend it.
Great atmosphere , live music and super gastro bar . Staff really friendly and a lovely holiday lace to chill , chat and eat and drink
We booked a table in advance, as we were a group of 10. The house cocktails were fabulous & great value. We ordered a wide variety of the tapas, everything was so fresh & delicious, stand out dishes were the Fried house prawns, the tatiki...of fresh tuna, lamb shank & the fried pork. The service was very good & the atmosphere was great, with a DJ playing some great funky tunes all night. Definitely the best meal we’ve had on our holiday.More
Best meal we had in Alvor during our 10 night stay! Delicious food in a lovely setting. Attentive staff
Easily the best food in Alvor, so tasty. Really well priced, we visited twice to eat. Staff were brilliant too and made you feel really welcome.
