We arrived 15 minutes before service started and within moments all the tables were full with expectant diners. They don't take bookings, so once the tables are full you just have to wait your turn to get one when someone leaves and they do not...estimate how long that might be. The menu is limited but all freshly cooked basic rustic food. I had grilled golden bream fish with potators and both my wife and son had half a chicken with chips. My fish was baeutifully grilled (bear in mind the fish is served whole with head and tail on, bones in, etc., but is easy to strip off the bones) and it was served with three boiled potatoes with the skin on and which had not had the eyes removed before being boiled. The chicken (my wife had plain, my son had it with Piri Piri) was deliscious, although it was not servved as a whole half chicken, but as a number of pieces - wing / drumstick / thigh /etc. and didn't seem to have the breast anywhere among the pieces. We had seen great reviews for the restaurant & takeaway and phoned in our order to pick up. We ordered piri piri chicken and chips for 4. It was absolutely beautiful and they weigh the chicken & chips for price. Well if you love simple food cooked to perfection then the market is the place. This is the place for Peri Peri chicken and superb grilled fish. They have actually extended the menu so now includes a meat kebab.

Very busy on lunch time, but worth to wait. Waitress will ask you for your name to put you on a list. After the table is free, she will call and show you the place. Otherwise, it would be a mess. Good price for tasty...food. Meat, fish, chicken. Also very good desserts.More

My husband and I had the peri peri chicken and grilled mackerel, and it was all fantastic. We arrived about 12:30 for lunch and had to wait about about 30 minutes for a table which we didn't mind as we knew it was very popular...and worth the wait. There was always a queue for lunch and dinner everytime we walked by. They don't take bookings. It's where the locals eat. Such a shame Was recommended this place by a local friend, arrived and it smelt unreal with the charcoaled grill. Waited at the door for a few minutes with no attention and then when I politely asked a waitress if I could get a table...I was told to ‘wait my turn’ eventually we got a table and then when the same waitress was cleaning it down I remarked that you must be busy, again I was shocked by her response that ‘no we are not busy’. It seemed she had venom in her blood and we couldn’t do right for wrong! Sadly that was enough to make us leave without experiencing the highly anticipated meal we had looked forward to.More

It looks a bit basic from the outside, but it was always busy when we passed. We ate the BBQ'd fish here and it was fantastic. Very reasonable prices, a mix of locals and tourists giving it a lot of atmosphere!

We try to have lunch here whenever in Alvor, but on our last visit 3 years ago, the queue was across the car park, so we reluctantly ate elsewhere. They have a good range of bbq fish and meat options and prices are excellent, including...a 1/2 litre carafe of decent house wine for €5.More

Highly recommended to those who’d want a proper and unpretensious grilled fish for dinner. The place is laid back and yet cheerful. Service is fast and yet personal. The food is simple and yet delicious - something we had been missing for some time.

Seems a local haunt as we ordered sardines to share as a starter and then two portions of chicken piri piri. The sardines were really fresh and tasted ‘sweet’. Chicken could be spicier but was succulent and tasty. Waitress was pleasant and ambience good in...spite of benches as seats. Comfy for locals no doubt.More
