We always visit on numerous nights each time we are in Alvor. Super friendly, amazing food, especially the cataplana and the mussels, I’d love to know their recipes, carrots never taste so good!

Down a side street off the main drag in Alvor, this restaurant had a lovely atmosphere, great service and amazing Fish Cataplana. Would thoroughly recommend.
we ate here again on this visit to Alvor and of course it did not disappoint . We again booked as we like to eat downstairs. We had the fish cataplana which we both loved 2 wine,2 beer coffee and deser again great value at...€44.00 for 2 peopleMore
We decided to visit this restaurant as friends had recommended it. My son and husband shared a white fish cataplana which they quite enjoyed. I decided to have the pot of mussels and they were delicious. The liquid was like a thin broth with a...tomato and garlic base. Carrots were also in the mix and surprisingly enhanced the dish. A very interesting bowl of food with a portion of boiled potatoes to dip in the sauce.More
It took us three nights to get a table at the Green Door but it was worth the wait. This is a very well run restaurant with a regular clientele. Simple food, beautifully cooked and so tasty. We'll definitely be back and will be booking...ahead of our next visit.More
Excellent- do not miss this restaurant. First class service and food. Reasonably priced - everything cooked to perfection
We come here every year on our family holiday to Alvor. The food is consistently amazing and the atmosphere is homely. See you in 2023!
This place serves decent food at value for money prices, especially when you factor in its location next to Alvors main drag. Only negative is that the Fish Fillet ordered turned out to be a few fish fingers, not what we expected and the menu...could do with tweaking to make this clear. Otherwise would be 5 stars as it still offered excellent value at 32 euros for 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 drinks. Would go back again but wouldn't order the fish fillet!More
You will not run out of restaurant options in Alvor... Sure, there is many good ones on the main street, all of them to us offering a similar menu, similar ambiance, at similar prices. But what we wanted was a bonus touch of authenticity, and...we found it at Taverna Do Guedes. The restaurant is tucked in a little side street, you have to know where to find it. The night we showed up, there was no more tables available, and the kind man told us to come back the day after. But since it was our last night in Alvor, and seeing our disappointment, he did managed to find a place for us, even if they were super busy... And that ended up being one of our best nights of our 3-week trip to Portugal. This place has a lot of personnality, no fuss, staff is genuinely friendly, prices are fair... But mainly, the food was amazing! We had our first Cataplana ever, and that is going to be hard to beat ;) We had a lot of delicious stuff in Portugal...but that...! Will remember that for a long time! Thank you!More
I was excited for the restaurant since I have seen a lot of good reviews, and the reviews are completely true. The staff are wonderful, the drinks are all very drinkable. The food is amazing, the design is fabulous. The food is a good price...and the place is very clean and sanitised! I will definitely be coming back here again!More
Fabulous food, good atmosphere, great staff who made us feel very welcome on every visit! Fish cataplana is a must! Thank you Francisco and Marco - can’t wait to return.
Very good service good food. nice people took a pretty long time to get the food but it was worth it. Got the drink very fast
Highly recommended - and frankly impossible to believe that there could be 35 better places than this in Alvor. Possibly not the place to go if you don't like seafood, but if you do this place is an absolute must. I can see why some...might not like benches and would prefer a restaurant with a better view and without a TV on (we only ate downstairs - it is possible this is available on the upper floor) but regardless this is a locally run place with delightful staff and fantastically good food - in our view this makes it a must. We will return before we leave - but worth noting they close Sundays and like the other popular places it's worth booking a few days in advance (esp for weekends).More
Food delicious. Staff friendly. Seating style is wooden benches and stools. Very uncomfortable and very crowded. Service slow. Be prepared to spend at least 60 mins for one course during busy times. Recommend prawns with rice.
Beautiful meal, garlic prawns special for starter, husband had the razor clams and they were fantastic. Fish of the day and fish stew for mains amazing. Good wine selection. You must book in advance
