The place is temporary, due to a fire in the main building, in the old "muhle", but environment and location are fascinating. Dishes as per north german tradition, with a good beer aside. Overall a good experience.

I have stayed here overnight every year on a trip across Northern Germany into Scandinavia. The rooms are good, the staff are very friendly and the food in the restaurant is excellent.

We arrived very late but were still given a very warm welcome. We weren't rushed and were served excellent schnitzel. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed the buffet lunch, dinner and breakfast, with their variety and tastiness. Not having chosen from the a la carte menu, we cannot comment, but the food others had ordered looked good!

Always high quality - delicious food, quality service in a mix of traditional and modern decor. The menu offers north german traditional food of the highest quality presented with style. Regardless of season or how busy they are with salon business your meal is delivered quickly with a minimum of fuss.

The restaurant was very comfortable and beautifully appointed. My husband chose the chef's menu of the day and delighted with the choice which included a main of monkfish. My meal was delicious and we both shared the dessert of excellent white chocolate mousse. The staff were very attentive without being overpowering and very happy to discuss the menu and options.

A business associate took us here. It is a hotel with restaurant which is really lovely and beautiful. We stopped for lunch and it wasnt crowded. They offer buffet option or a la carte. Service was fast and professional. I hope they could have some menus in English though.

Gut Altona at the outskirts of Wildeshausen is well presented hotel and restaurant. The prices match the presentation but it's attempts on haut cuisine occasionally fail; e.g. combining 'Dutch herring with smoked salmo'n will kill the taste of the salmon. An order of 'Dutch Herring with beans' was actually served with a less fitting green salad instead. My 'Chanterelles with... More

The restaurant looked scarily posh - but in fact both the set menu and the a la carte were very reasonably priced and excellent value. You will need to know some German to read the menu.

Cannot fault the cooking, the attention and dispositions of the waiting staff, or the price! We ate in the bar as my partner is wheelchair bound and it was easier for her to get the under the tables. The slight disruption this caused was dealt with in a positive and friendly way. The staff were attentive to her needs, even... More
