Great place for traditional Austrian food. Atmosphere is fantastic service as it has to be. Prices are more then reasonable and above all they can deal perfectly with bigger groups.

We visited this restaurant with six other people. Although we had booked beforehand, the restaurant area is quite large and we had plenty of room. The staff were welcoming and spoke a certain amount of English. Food was good and plentiful. Would certainly go back again.

The restaurant is very nice, it has the typical rural furniture inside (it was a mill, the name means "Old Mill"), the price of the food is really cheap but his quality is very good. We took Schlipfkrapfen (typical Tirolean ravioli) and Wiener Schnitzel, all was good. Also the service was very good, with waiters and waitresses dressed in traditional... More

The Alte Muhle restaurant appears to be the most popular restaurant in Matrei. We had to make reservation ahead of time for our dinner. The restaurant’s interior is stylish – classical alpen restaurant. We were seated fast, but we had the impression that we have to choose our menu quickly. The menu offers traditional Austrian food, pasta and burgers. We... More

With the hot weather we were able to sit outside. The benches and table were quite rustic, matching the old mill wheel. The waiter was quite pleasant and we had an apero and ordered a bottle of white wine that came in an ice bucket. The trout recommended by the waiter was delicious and came with plenty of brown butter.... More

We visited Die Alte Muehle for supper and we're pleased to see a good menue with a good Selection. The food was good but a word to the wise...do not order spare ribs. They were very dry and needed a bit more imagination.

The restaurant is separated into smoking and non-smoking sections. The variety and quality of local area cuisine offerings and local area obtained food sources are of great quality. If there is appetite left over, the desserts and presentation will not disappoint. The staff are friendly and patient.

If you are looking for a proper breath of typical Tiroles cousine and atmosphere in the Matrei area this is one of the places you want to try out. They have all the classic dishes well served and good food quality although is the venue warm and cosy atmosphere and the staff courtesy that makes the difference!
