We stayed at the Governors Bay Hotel for one night. The dinner was excellent with good quality ingredients and good service. Friendly staff and the room was fine. Will stay again in future.

We had a beautiful lunch on the front deck. Food was excellent with just the right amount. Staff were friendly. Warm inside with fire going. Is way above standard pub type meals we will be going back for dinner sooner rather than later.

The GB Hotel has been around for a long time and enjoys a commanding position at the head of Lyttelton Harbour with excellent views east to the harbour Heads. A short 20 minute drive over the Port Hills from Christchurch will get you to Governors...More

The pub was warm and welcoming with amazing food. The rooms upstairs were super clean and comfortable. Close to the bay and far enough out of town to have a country feel.

Dropped in for Sunday lunch to friendly enough staff and nice location. Fishcakes were stodgy and unseasoned, 'brick-like' was how my daughter described them. Combined with a 'slaw' that was of questionable age was made the meal almost inedible - unacceptable at $24. Husband had...More

Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Considerate and careful staff. Called us ahead of time to alert us to the fact that the direct route was closed. After arriving you were left alone and it was a lovely feeling to just enjoy the facility. We were a bit...More

We stopped here for lunch on our way from Akaroa to Christchurch. It was a beautiful day so we ate at an outside table and enjoyed the sun and the view. The meals were enjoyable and the staff were pleasant and helpful.

Dear Ian, Yes, there are days when we'd rather our staff deal with the customers grievances. Yesterday was much like that, a beautiful day, 200 hundred meals for lunch and we found out that we had to put our much loved dog down in the...More

Governors Bay Hotel is an historic 1870s hotel with stunning views over Lyttelton Harbour. Located just 20 minutes drive from central Christchurch via Dyers Pass Road. Gastro-pub fare at reasonable prices from the garden, bar or restaurant. Recommended in the Lonely Planet and 2012/13/14 winner in the Beef and Lamb Excellence Awards. Juke box, pin ball and pool table but definitely no pokies. Stay the night from $119.00 Per couple.
