Travelled on the West Highland Railway to Mallaig for a short visit. After a blustery walk around the harbour, we came upon The Steam Inn for lunch. Friendly staff, really cosy restaurant. The food was great too. Thoroughly recommended.

Cracking pub with a great restaurant. The staff are very friendly and there's a cracking log stove so it's nice and toasty. The bar dog ( blue ) is the friendliest Great Dane your ever likely to meet.

We went for lunch on Sunday while waiting for our ferry. We were welcomed immediately and sat down. Drinks were served and we were told about the specials and left to make our choice. Food arrived quickly and was delicious and not overpriced. Would definitely go back again for a meal. Thanks Fiona and all the other staff working!!

Went as a group for a family members birthday! The food was absolutely divine!, I had monkfish scampi which was absolutely melt in the mouth, everyone else in the group were very happy with their food selection too. If I ever return to quaint Mallaig, a repeat will definitely be on the cards

We had lunch here. Saturday afternoon. Surroundings are nice, food was better than average but service was a bit disjointed, even though it wasn't very busy. We would go back though.

Nice local place. The Fish and Chips with an oats and breadcrumb batter was yum. The quality of the fish was also good. They advertised a coal fire which was the main advertising for me as it was raining and cold. Instead there was a gas heater. The whiskey was good and their pale ale. All in all not bad... More

As I've said on previous occasions, the staff, food, accommodation, excellent staff and friendly atmosphere at the Steam Inn is second to none! During a recent ''off season'' visit, The Steam Inn was still busy which, in my opinion, speaks for itself. When visiting Mallaig, this is definitely THE place to visit.....or you will have missed out. Don't just take... More

Had been looking forward to eating here after looking up the menu online prior to our trip. Arrived on the train at 1.30pm and looked at the menu again on the way to the Hotel, clearly stated lunch served until 3pm - went to hotel and checked in and left the luggage and headed back to the Steam Inn, arrived... We ate at the Steam Inn on a couple of evenings while staying in Mallaig. The waitress was very pleasant and the food was very good, especially the seafood pasta. The right hand bar had a warm atmosphere, but we were astonished to witness a fight spill out onto the main street from the public bar while walking up past... More

Travelling on the Jacobite we had the best part of two hours to kill in Mallaig so we headed off The Steam Inn and were lucky to find two or three tables available (Ten minutes later and it was full). The food was very good and so was the service. It wasn't cheap but it was certainly value for money... More
