The Friar's Head is a gem of a restaurant. The food is fantastic, the staff are friendly and helpful. The menu is extensive. If you are in the Yorkshire Dales it is well worth a visit

Staying on the campsite on which the Friars Head is situated, it has been refurbished since our last visit. An 'upmarket location' the restaurant is not exactly 'fast food' but has a good and comprehensive menu but I would comment that the menu prices could be described as a little bit keen, however you get what you pay for. While driving from Leicester to the Dales we usually stop on the way for some nosh. This was further, slightly more expensive and not as quick as required but we had just been recommended by a friend so stretched all matrix and stopped off. What a great call. We had tapas. Food was very good for taste and value and... More

This was our second visit here, we specifically booked Akebar Park for the Easter weekend so we could return to the Friars ahead. The food was once again wonderful and the service from all the staff was fantastic. Next time we are in the area we will definately return!

My husband and I booked out Sunday lunch and we weren't disappointed. We both chose prawn cocktails for our starters and a chicken lunch. We thoroughly enjoyed both! Yorkshire puddings were large and delicious! Only thing I would recommend is that you get your own portions of vegetables instead of sharing. My hubby took most of it😯

Visited for dinner and I agree with other reviews the location is nice and we found the service to be of a good standard. The food however was very 'mew' we opted for the soup starter and the chef really needs to understand the principle of seasoning as it was sadly bland. I went for the duck breast and although... What a very interesting property, if a little contrived, golf driving range and acute competition for a table from the residents of the caravan park who have little alternative but to eat here... In a good day the food is tasty and imaginative. Overall I prefer to travel a bit further to other excellent eateries in the area. Gig hall,... More
