We had been recommended another pub in Coggeshall but it was closed for the day so we came to the Woolpack. The friendly greeting made all the difference and we all had fish and chips. They were excellent. The pub was not too noisy and the meal did not take long to come. A nice selection of beers, cider and... More

We were a large party of 18 coming in for lunch after a walk. We were made very welcome. It's quite a compact pub and a bit of a squeeze to get us all in. Everything came quickly and was good. Nice beer as well, definitely recommended.

A group of finished our walk at The Woolpack. We had booked lunch there. The food was really nice and the service very efficient and friendly. The beer was very good and obviously well looked after. We didn't have much to do with the locals but that is to be expected.

The Woolpack Inn is a delightful timber-framed building dating back to the fourteenth century with plenty of original features. My wife and I and a friend visited on a Saturday night having booked a couple of days earlier. We started with the whitebait which were delicious although it would have been nice if they'd been accompanied by bread and butter.... More

Eaten both the roast and the pizza they do every Thursday (I believe). Both are very nice and would definitely have again. Lovely pub

This was the lunch stop on our wet ramble to and from Kelvedon. Interesting and welcoming interior, complete with small 'comfy chair' and fireplace area near the entrance. Table reserved for us in the main bar area. Good choice of food and ales. Apparently we'd been warned of the service 'not being quick' as the food is freshly prepared. No... More

A very cosy pub with plenty of character. The roast dinner I had was excellent value for money. I will be back soon!

After greatly enjoying the fabulous 29th Annual Flower Festival in Coggeshall's Parish Church, St Peter ad Vincula, on 29.08.16, my wife and I together with a friend wandered into the Woolpack Inn, virtually next door to the Church, for liquid refreshments but as a result of being charmed by the place we ended up staying for lunch. Appearing as it... More

Went there for a last-minute evening meal (Wednesday) with family and sat in the garden and ate as it was so hot. Owners are always friendly and welcoming and actually cook the food rather than order it in. We all had good meals.

We finished a 3 day walk along the Essex Way at Coggeshall. Although we had booked in to another pub in the town we did not want to spend the evening in it so we wandered out to see what the alternatives were. First up was the Chappel Inn which looked quite attractive from the outside but was well packed... More
