I've reviewed this place before and we've made a point of returning every year since then, never leaving disappointed. Well, four years on from that first visit, I feel compelled to write another review, because they really outdid themselves this time around! The starter was a pure joy. Porthleven crab with tuna tartare was bursting with flavour in every forkful.... More

To celebrate my 70th and the end of our holiday we saved the best till last! We were so pleased to go back to Kota, the food is excellent, the staff professional and friendly. We started with the Porthleven crab and tuna tartare which my wife really enjoyed and I had the tempura oysters followed by the lamb dish and... More

We have been eating at Kota for almost nine years now and the food has, if anything, improved (if that were possible). Our last visit was probably one of the best yet, all our food and wine choices were delicious, and the blue cheese ice cream dessert, quite simply one of the best I have ever had (and that includes... Driving along, I mentioned booking a table at Kota Kai Restaurant to my partner and she duly started to type the name... good old Google... the name and details came up really quickly (she's with a better 4G provider than me) and she rang the number. Booking made for 8p.m. We arrive at Kota Kai, the intended restaurant, and sit... More

We ate here having wanted to do so for some time and I have to say we were not disappointed. The food is a clever combination of great local produce with a hint of Asian inspiration thrown in to pep things up - it's all done very very well. The staff were friendly and could not have been more helpful... More

I really enjoyed our evening at Kota to celebrate my wife's birthday. Attentive and knowledgeable staff plus the excellent food made it a night to remember. An additional vegetarian starter was rustled up without any fuss. Whilst the meal wasn't cheap, it was special and was worth every penny.

Called Kota having read a review of the place in one of the local Cornwall review magazines and booked an early doors table as we were staying at Rick Stein's in Padstow and a bit of a jaunt across country. Arrived a bit early and spent a very pleasant afternoon walking around the harbourside and a quick pint in the... More

Last came in September and was blown away by the amazing meal. Since then they have won an award for innovation and I was curious to see if they could maintain the standard. Not only maintain it but exceed it. The staff are even more confident and assured. The food tastes even better and the experience is even more worthwhile.... More

You are spoilt in this restaurant. The service is perfect and the food sublime. You can stay at the restaurant as B&B guests, so you don't have far to travel after a lovely meal! I would say that one of the two rooms available is a little 'tired' but comfortable. We will certainly eat here again.

We stayed in the harbour view room above the restaurant for two nights (reviewed separately) and ate in the restaurant on both nights. On arrival we were promptly shown to our table where we were allowed plenty of time to chose from the menu whilst sipping on a special offer priced locally produced gin and tonic. There were two menus... More
