We found the restaurant open out of season, when the rest of Ax seemed closed. Warm welcome by a jolly owner/waiter, who even knew a Scottish song (we were given a few bars!). The cassoulet was particularly good, tasty and comforting. we had the 18.90 euro set 3 course menu and 1/4L of house wine for 3.50 euro. Would go... More

Ax-les-Thermes is a place that my wife and I usually drive through without stopping, but we wanted to collect information on the spa, so we wandered through the old town and came across this charming little restaurant. We ate the menu du jour at 12,80 and were delighted, especially with the main course that was described to us as a... More

We were quite disappointed with our visit to this restaurant (four children and five adults) in February. The waiter messed up the orders and the food was not up to scratch. I must admit though, that we have eaten here previously and the food and service was fine. What has happened????

A couple of meals in this nice restaurant. Good local food, very tasty cassoulet, and good entrecôte.... I'll certainly come again next time...

The Grand Cafe was closed mid-week so fell back here. Menu is limited so expected precision. As others have noted they have two rooms and a limited staff (the boss plus a server) so service was slow - we almost gave up at over 20mins to get a menu, then order taken at about 35mins, wine took about 45mins and... Had dinner here as our B&B host suggested it. The menu is "very french" with local specialities (eg. Trout). We ordered the fixed price menu for €15. The food was excellent - the chèvre-stuffed pepper salad, for example, was superb. Had the cassoulet for the main course and it was copious and delicious. For dessert we went for the creme... More

this is not a food review as we were left sitting in an overflow room with two other couples for 45 minutes before we left without even being given a menu, appalling ignorant lack of service. we went up the road to La Petit Fringale and were welcomed, seated and served in 15 mins and had a wonderful meal.

Went here with a large group and had a very enjoyable, rowdy evening! The servings were generous, and the food was lovely comfort food on a cold evening. Staff were patient with the group and complex ordering. I'd definately go again.

The Tour de France finished a stage near here on the day we visited, so we didn't expect the good value, great food and service that we found. Nearly missed the race!
