My partner and I had just arrived in Matlock Bath on a wet and windy day, and we were looking for somewhere to get warm and have a drink. There was only us and another couple in there, so we had a choice of table and decided to sit in a corner next to some of the Victorian artefacts. When... More

If you're in Matlock Bath, you need to visit this place just for sheer comedy gold. It's like stepping onto the set of Faulty Towers, you couldn't make this stuff up. That's plastic ivy you can see in the photo, it adorns all the walls/coving/windows/door. From the wallpaper, carpet, table cloths, picture hangings, even the tables and chairs, everything has... Very poor cafe. Smells damp the moment you walk in. Lady working in cafe said she couldn't make hot food and only had a couple of sandwiches left (it was 1pm in the afternoon on a Saturday). We decided to just order hot drinks. It took long enough for them to arrive and then she forgot one. We used the... More

Most disappointing tea and food ever. Friendly but totally disorganised. Microwave doing most of the cooking. Soup is from a packet and buns from sainsbury. Recommend avoiding

We walked all the way through Matlock to come here before reading the TA reviews as we could not get sufficient internet signal. Very disappointing.

We'd read the raving reviews and were really excited about visiting the Victorian tea shop on our trip to Matlock Bath. So imagine how we felt when we saw the for sale sign and the closed notice. So today we walked away from the cream tea we'd promised ourselves and the photographic exhibition. We do hope new owners take it... More

Visited the Museum of Photography upstairs and then came down for a cup of tea. There is not much you can say about a pot of tea but it was very nice. The cafe is just as you might expect a Victorian cafe to be, nicely decorated with striped wallpaper, small round tables with proper tablecloths and lots of plants.... More

If it was possible I'd give this 0/5, the worst place I've ever eaten in my entire life. My sister and I had gone for a stroll round Matlock Bath and when seeing this café we thought our past mother would have loved it as it was 'victorian'. It was anything but a run down disgusting piece of trash. We... More
