Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stopped at the Local on our way to Youghal for a late lunch. This is an old style Irish pub full of lovely photos and old advertisement signs to lend to it's cosy atmosphere and spotlessy clean. We were delighted we chose this spot...as the staff were a delight and the food was exceptional, hot, fresh, very tasty and very reasonably priced. The Guinness was also excellent. Drop in and try it for yourself, you will not be disappointed.More

The Local was busy, but able to accommodate us without a booking. Our meals were well prepared and tasty. Our desserts were wonderful. The staff is busy but attentive. I would return again.

I had one of the specials tonight - the trio of sea food and it was absolutely incredible. From the presentation to the quality of the fish to the brilliant balance of seasoning, I was close to licking the plate. I just hope they make...it a regular on the menu. If there were ten stars I’d give it. Thank you and we can’t wait to come backMore

I have eaten at the Local a few times now and have never been disappointed with the food or service. The fish goujons are always good and the bread and butter pudding for dessert must be the best in Ireland! I love sitting outside but...indoors has a lovely atmosphere too, with an unbelievable selection of pub memorabilia. The service is always both friendly and efficient and the lunch menu is very good value for money. And the Guinness is very good too! Highly recommendedMore

Sitting in the sunshine outside The Local we were served a really delicious lunch of vegetable soup and Ballycotton prawn salad. It is not easy to find local Irish prawns as most are exported. Had the weather forced us inside, the quaint old style Irish...pub atmosphere was lovely to behold.More

The Local has no vegetarian options advertised but was very happy to provide the Charcuterie Sharing plate (minus the meat) to a friend and I. Bhí sé THAR BARR! It was FABULOUS!! The selection of cheese was excellent along with olives, strawberries, a selection of...high quality crackers and much more. It was amazing value at €30 and was difficult to finish due to the generous serving. Molaim go hard é agus beidh mé ar ais arís le haghaidh níos mó! It would be great to see this advertised on the menu as a cheese platter as it would definitely attract customers who are vegetarian or who prefer not to eat a lot of meat. The quality and quantity of food on offer in The Local is excellent, but as a vegetarian I would love to see a few vegan and vegetarian dishes advertised also, to accompany their excellent cocktails. Service was very efficient & friendly. Míle buíochas libh.More

Superb quality food, very fairly priced, great outdoor facilities on the square and very atmospheric indoor setting as well. We have been here 3 times recently,we had different choices on each visit but were totally satisfied on each occasion. Brilliant burgers, excellent and interesting salads,...best chowder in town, delicious hake were among our choices and each cooked and served to perfection. Service was great each time and Sara from Italy with her half Irish accent is a standout server. The local is now our 'go to' place for food when we are in Dungarvan. 11/10!! 👏👏👏More

Giving an overall 5-star rating based on about 9 visits by 3 couples in the space of a week. All 3 couples ate there separately & then all together on the last night. Only one bad experience in all the visits with a poor quality...& badly cooked steak, but they did take it off the bill. Between us we sampled various wraps for lunch, garlic mushrooms, pan fried prawns, various burgers, (special) herb-crusted hake. Apart from the dodgy steak incident, the chips were always nice & crispy. We also had a selection of desserts on the last night – all delicious. Only drawback is that most of the tables are small, so if you have a bigger group you may need to book in advance – we were lucky the last nice and got a great spacious table inside the door, which could have seated 8. Would Recommend (just maybe not the steak!)More

Visited recently with a friend after it came recommended. It was absolutely fantastic, The Local has such a warm, friendly feel to the place. While the decor is lovely and the food was great, it was the staff that made the whole experience. From the...moment we stepped in to the moment we left the staff were lovely, friendly and extremely attentive. On the way we picked up two freshly made desserts, both incredible and very tasty. Will 100% be back very soonMore
