This is a regular ‘eatery’ of mine. Today Sunday my friend and I went for a lunch type meal at 1.45pm. On arrival we were directed to a table in a pokey corner at the narrowest point of the dining area, there were at least 12 tables available with only one other table being occupied. Our waitress came and we asked to be moved, she was delighted to move us to another much brighter location. She then kindly explained in detail all of the options we were considering, she couldn’t have been more helpful. The meals were just absolutely delicious if somewhat shy on portion size. It’s a lovely place and yes I will be back for the value and quality

The food at the Indian Ocean is superb. We had a tandoori prawns and pathia chicken dish and both were among the best Indian meals we have ever had.
The waiting staff are very functional and we noticed that a number of people tried to strike up conversations but got little back- not so good for a tourist location.
Overall very tasty and well prepared food. But they are missing a trick with return customers on a staff friendliness level.

Myself and my boyfriend went to Indian Ocean restaurant from finding it online at a reasonable price while going through Dungarvan. We hadn't booked a table, but the staff were very accomodating and friendly. We were given poppadoms and dips while we waited for our food, which didn't take long. I had the butter chicken and he had the chicken tandoori, the presentation was excellent and the food was very tasty, we sat outside overlooking Davits quay.

I had booked a table for dinner a week prior to my visit for a Sunday evening. By a stroke of luck, I managed to get a table in the Cliff House in Ardmore that day for lunch and as a result, was not a bit hungry for a dinner. As I had booked a table, and given the difficulties restaurants have had with Covid 19, I decided that I would honour my booking.
I arrived at 7.25 p.m. and entered the door where there was a reception area with about 3 people in it behind glass/perspex and another waitress passed me a couple of times. All steadfastly ignored me for at least 5 minutes. Then a man came out and I said I had a reservation.
There was a large room to the right of the entrance door which was open to the outdoor dining area. It was a wet evening and chilly enough. I was pointed to a seat right in the doorway into the room which was in the draught of the outer door. There were 9 tables for 4 persons in the room, all of which were empty bar one in the centre to the rear. I made to sit the far side of the table I was being told to sit at to get out of the draught but was told, "No, here. Social distancing". And he walked away. Shortly after, I gave my order for a vegetable biryani and a beer by which time the only other occupied table were leaving. Service was monosyllabic and the food was uninspiring to say the least. It would not entice me back even if guaranteed better service.
In a time when they should be trying to increase their business I was totally taken aback at the complete lack of any effort on their part to make me welcome or comfortable in any way. An appalling experience.

Unfamiliar with eateries in Dungarvan we came across the Indian Ocean, which seemed extremely busy so assumed this was the place to be. We managed to get a table outside where a rather flustered waiter took our order. Poppadoms arrived quickly and then ... well that's when it started to unravel.
Adjacent tables came and went before nearly an hour's wait when another waiter asked me if he could help. By this time my wife had gone in to find out what was going on. Our order, it seemed, had been 'misplaced' but would be ready in two minutes. Quite how they had misplaced it and yet knew what we wanted was nothing short of a miracle. What was a miracle was that the food arrived soon after.
I have had great curries and I have have bad curries, but this was a first - a boring curry. Totally and utterly tasteless, it was as if they'd poured food colouring onto some chewy chicken and hoped for the best. Thankfully I'd retained the dips from the poppadoms which I added to it to give it some kind of flavour. It was during this bland experience that a neighbouring table informed us that the restaurant had been immensely popular during lockdown, hence the queue of punters snaking uncomfortably through the seated guests - they'd simply lost focus and lost control.
Like fools we agreed to pay for it, buttered up with the offer of a drink on the house. Ah sure, why not. But when we handed over cash beyond the price of the meal, the waiter disappeared with what he wrongly assumed was a tip. "Excuse me, can we please have the change as we are not tipping poor food and poor service". He seemed somewhat surprised, but returned with the money - unlike us.
How could they get it so wrong.

Having had a previous enjoyable experience eating in this restaurant I was extremely disappointed with today's takeaway. It tasted suspicionly like it was from a supermarket jar. Ordered a traditional curry and a Balti. The only difference between them was a squeeze of lemon and a slice of tomato on top. The chicken was like cardboard.
I definitely will not go back here again.

Hadn’t visited in a while, got a takeaway for Father’s Day weekend. Was told food would be 20/25 mins over the phone, waited 50. No apologies for delay. Portions were tiny, cartons weren’t even full, scant amount of chicken in Jalfrezi. Both dishes severely lacking in sauce. Chicken was both shredded and in chunks in the same dish, so strange! Naan bread had clearly been cooked in an ordinary oven and resembled a thin crust pizza. Big let down and cost us a small fortune. Will not return

Standards have dropped here. I was very impressed with my previous visit here prior to the lockdown. It was busy the night I was here, but that's no excuse. We were a family of 10, 6 of which were disappointed with their dishes. The starters good except for the chaat, really not nice at all.
The biryani, saag, butter chicken and korma were poor, no flavor. Service wasn't great either, they forgot to bring out 3 side dishes of rice and when they did arrive we had almost finished our mains.
Won't be returning.

Saturday night walk in - we were accommodated and shown to our table. Free poppadoms and chutneys etc. we ordered main courses rice and bread and soft drinks.
Found service attentive but rushed and tables were turned at huge speed and made for an uncomfortable and noisy atmosphere. Food was ok, nothing stunning.

We checked the surrounding and went for this Indian place.
There are pro and cons with it so in all honestly parts of it could be a bad day, but parts of it not.
First the negative stuff. We waited an hour to get our food. 2x Butter Chicken and chicken goujons for our daughter. In the meantime three other tables that arrived around the same time already paid.
Second the prices. We payed 75€ for two mains (butter chicken) the goujons, an apple juice, two lassi (4.9€ each!) and papadam plus cheese naan (which first was wrongly served garlic naan). Rice for the three of us.
Now we are just half a year in Ireland but that was the first Indian we came across that had any rice as an extra to the main / so a butter chicken is not 16,9€ but more like 21€ if you like some rice with it. That’s also not stated on the menu and not mentioned while ordering. We checked, the chinese next door does the same BUT have it written on the menu clearly.
They have surprisingly many waiters running around, who also were nice when spoke to, but zero attentive. More like a chaotic running in all places.
The takeaway was buzzing and quick so better maybe call them.
The good: food was delicious and quality was ok.
But nothing I will voluntarily pay for again.

The food here is just amazing. Tandoori prawns are so good. They do all kinds of curries and you can decide which sauce to go with prawns. Gorgeous naan breads and rices . Staff are very nice here there is always someone around if you need anything. Definitely recommend.

We were very excited to order a mid week take away so we settled on Indian. We have been very disappointed, we ordered a large amount of food that had four dishes and two naans.
The naan was like cardboard just horrid.
Everything tasted exactly the same and the veg is boiled to death! Mush!
Chicken tasted like hot water no flavour at all, how they can get naan wrong says it all. I don't believe that it's authentic Indian food.
I would not recommend this one, its far too expensive to have this type feedback.

The decor is lovely. The service isn't great.I was there at least 3 times when the service proved itself to be lacking. So I've done the friends, couples, family thing. But the food is truly awful. When I ordered a takeaway they got the order wrong. Which didn't make much of a difference because it was truly inedible and I had to throw it out. What is it with just peas and carrots when you order vegetarian? Maybe mushrooms, peppers, sweet pepper, butternut squash, garlic, onions, aubergine, chickpeas, spinach....? Something that doesn't resemble reconstituted baby food?

On a Wednesday night this restaurant was busy, we had booked and had a choice of the tables by the road. There is a varied menu and a decent enough wine list, something not always present in an ethnic restaurant. We all enjoyed our dishes, the portions are decent and the Naan bread was particularly tasty. I was disappointed that some of the waiting staff did not wear their masks all the time.

Got the lamb handi for takeaway as it is not available in most other indian restaurants. Very spicy but so flavourful, absolutely delicious. The nan bread is also different from other indian restaurants - fresh and less greasy. So good we got the exact same dishes the following night
