I've dined in The Moorings on many occasions and its always a real treat. Its a beautifully well appointed restaurant, literally on the edge of Dungarvan Bay and any table, inside or out is a good one. To celebrate my Birthday, myself and my wife were lucky enough to get a table there last weekend and it did not disappoint ! The reasonable priced menu has something for everybody and the food is of the highest quality. Service is excellent and the Restaurant Manager is always on the move between the entrance, seating customers and making sure everybody is enjoying their meal. The Moorings is simply top class and I would highly recommend it for locals and visitors to the beautiful town of Dungarvan - you wont be disappointed

We visited the Moorings on Monday September 6th last as we saw that you could eat out doors and as we had our dog with us this suited perfectly, and we were so glad that we ate here. The staff were lovely , the food was delicious and the restaurant facilities were spotless. The choice of food was great and when we called two days later they even had a new selection of dishes. I would highly recommend this restaurant and bar.

We ate here for lunch after cycling on the greenway into Dungarvan from Kilmacthomas. Needless to say, we had worked up a good appetite on our journey and were looking for something good to eat set us up for the return journey! The lunch we had at the Moorings certainly did not disappoint! There were lots of fantastic seafood and non-seafood options on the menu to choose from. We were very happy with the food we got; it was very tasty, well-presented and good value for money too. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and service we received and wouldn't hesitate to come back when in Dungarvan again.

Absolutely terrible place. Left sitting at the bar for 1 hour before getting a table that we were told would be 30 mins. People that came in after us were seated before us. When we finally did get a table we were left sitting for 20 mins or so before our orders were taken. A further 40 mins later still no food so just cancelled order and left. Will never set foot inside again.

Went for Sunday lunch with my family. Had a table booked for the previous five days in the restaurant but alas when we arrived it had been given away to someone else. We were instead put into the snug which has no atmostphere. I gave a rave review a few years ago to the Moorings and while the food was good, its just getting too expensive to eat out for a family. The prices for Sunday lunch over the last year have gone up on average of 2 euro per adult and even though the price for the roast was 13.95 I have been charged 14.95 at the till on the last 2 occasions. Each time I brought this to the bar persons attention the comment I got was 'well spotted' and was refunded the difference. It is unacceptable for customers to have to keep checking the bill after eating and finding mistakes. Also my 12 year old son ordered a larger portion of goujons than the 6.50 price from the kids menu and was charged double the price 12.95 of the childrens portion for 2 extra goujons. No salad or veg. So 6.45 for 2 goujons. When our table was given away on our last visit the least the restaurant could have done was to make a gesture of some kind like a drink on the house or free coffees as we are regular patrons. Loyalty counts for nothing as the general feeling is people will just keep coming back regardless. Prices keep rising while wages have not and its not just the Moorings. Prices in Dungarvan in general have risen and while VAT has gone up its never an odd number it rises by but a nice round euro or two. Not impressed for a number of reasons after this experience and I have always been a great supporter of the Moorings.

Family of five today for lunch. Table was cleaned and we were seated. We waited and waited but the waitress gave us no menu. A table of two arrived after us, they were given a menu immediately and placed their order! In the end I had to get the attention of a waitress and ask for menu's. Ordered starters and mains including 2 kids meals. Specifically asked for kids meals to be brought out with mains, the kids meals never arrived. We waited and waited, no one came to clear our starters. Again we had to ask a waiter to clear our starters and bring our mains. Kids had chicken goujons which were so bland, much better to be found at mcdonalds. Menu very overpriced ie 10.50 for starter 18.00 for chicken with cream sauceveg and chip's. Nothing special at all. Would not recommend and won't be back.

To make a long review short ... Management/service very very poor Sat with empty starter plates for 40 mins Had to flag waitress down to find out where our dinners were (kids finished their starters and mains at this point getting very restless ) Saw our mains being delivered to another table and then returned to kitchen. Sitting waiting again . Eventually my main arrived .... wrong main course . Returned to Kitchen . Eventually new dinner arrived . Then my husbands a arrived . Wrong main course again !!! New main course arrived . Management not very apologetic . Said we should expect a wait when ordering a starter ! €86 for 2 adults , 2 children . While the food was good the service and attitude was so poor we would not return . Covid can nor be accepted as an excuse for poor service especially at those prices On getting the bill my husband asked them had charged for children’s garlic bread starters not adults . Manager said yes they were kids . Charged us €3.50 for each . On leaving we checked kids menu and saw they were priced at €2.50 ! Very dishonest . We were too tired to complain again .

Booked in advance. I was shown immediately to my table and given a menu to peruse and a drink whick i ordered. Another 10-15 min elapsed before my order was taken. 25 more min. Elapsed before it arrived!! I had ordered a starter of garlic mushrooms and a traditional bacon and cheese burger which i asked for together. The food looked and smelled very good but this increased the disappointment when i discovered that the mushrooms were almost inedible due excessive use of salt! In fact the texture of the mushrooms was crunchy (they were not breaded mushrooms). They may have had lots of garlic but this was not discernable due to salt. The burger also had too much salt. When asked was everything alright i said the above i was told "it takes 20 min to cook a burger" and the salt ????Further to all this was the lack of social distancing i endured through all the wait time as my table was immediately inside the door and there was poor signage to discourage patrons from standing right in front of my table!

Went to this bar/restaurant for a meal on a Saturday evening on recommendation from an old Georgina Campbell guidebook and suggested by owner of our guesthouse. We hadn't booked, but called in mid afternoon to ask if we could book a table for two. We were advised that we couldn't book, but if we arrived early between 5pm & 6pm they would find us a table. We duly called in around 5pm & were asked to sit at the bar & have a drink while waiting for a free table. The place was already busy, but after a short time we were shown to a table outdoors on the terrace. I would rather have had a table indoors but we accepted it as it was only place available. We placed our order at about 5.25pm, and it was almost 6.10pm by the time our food arrived, after we chased it up. I did approach a staff member to ask where our food was, and a male person who I presume was the manager eventually told me that there were a lot of orders placed before mine and they were extremely busy. I understand that, but over 40 mins is a long time to wait. The fact that we were sitting outside all this time and it wasn't that warm didn't help, On top of that, a family at the table beside us couldn't control their two young boys, who were constantly shrieking and squealing, climbing over the bench seats, & running back & forward towards the harbour where cars were passing by. Not the restaurants fault, but the parents. Our meal was disappointing when it did arrive. My husband had a fish dish, can't quite remember what but he said it was just ok. I had the cajun chicken salad bowl, but I made a bad choice. It didn't even look very appetising when it arrived. There was rather a lot of very limp lettuce leaves on the bottom which were tasteless. The chicken pieces were hard and overcooked, and I couldn't eat much of it at all. I did tell the waitress when she cleared our plates away, but all she said was she was surprised as it was a popular dish. No real apology was offered or any form of re compense. We didn't bother asking for a sweet. Paid our bill & just glad to leave the place. There are plenty of other restaurants in Dungarvan, I certainly wouldn't bother with this one again.

We had lunch here early on in our week at Dungarvan and everyone enjoyed it, kids had delicious fresh chicken, crab claws to die for and decor and safety was perfect. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. We had to go back then later in our week as one of our kids was celebrating a big birthday and this was the place he wanted to go to! The staff there could not have done enough for us, the super kind lady Manager who surprised us all with a dessert with candles for him and other team members singing to him, he was mortified and thrilled! The food again was delicious, fresh and light, the decor was gorgeous and we would highly recommend this option, hoping to get back again! Delivering a great experience under difficult current situation.

Went to The Moorings on Tuesday 29th June, very busy waited half hour for what we thought was outdoor dining!! Taken to a table which was no way outdoor seating, too many tables and people walking around with no masks. Ate food very quickly which was lovely could not fault food, told to pay food at the bar which is not allowed under government conditions. While waiting to pay people in bare feet and life jackets no masks walked in and approached a table near us! Manager clearly saw and nothing was said. Did speak to manager and was told it was all above board! I know it’s hard for all restaurants and pubs at the moment but if rules aren’t followed they’ll all be shut again.

My husband and I cycled into Dungarvan on the Waterford Dungarvan Greenway recently and stoped for lunch at The Moorings. This was our first visit to The Moorings and won’t be our last. It’s a beautiful old pub/restaurant, very nicely decorated . The overall ambiance is very friendly, comfortable and welcoming and is well managed in terms of COVID. We both ordered their small bowl of seafood chowder served with smoked salmon salad. The chowder was delicious and the salmon and salad very tasty and well presented. We also had two generous glasses of their Pinot Grigio which was very good. Service was excellent and all the staff were genuinely helpful and very friendly. Their lunch menu looked very attractive with lots to choose from. We would highly recommend The Moorings for a very relaxing lunch or evening meal and the old pub area looks very inviting too.

Met with a group of friends in The Moorings one Wednesday evening. The gentleman that met us at the door wore his face covering under his nose, as some sort of talisman. Not one of us was asked for a vaccination certificate. We had a quick main course and left, several of us older folk were very uncomfortable to be there. If people feel at ease in a premises, they are likely to stay longer and spend more. Not checking certificates on entry is false economy reflects poorly on this business. We won't be calling back.

It was so great to be able to spend time at a local eatery today and even better to share my positive review. The Moorings is a wonderful gastro pub situated on the Dungarvan quayside. Even on a cold January evening the place was busy with a great welcoming atmosphere. My food was excellent, served by great staff and I wished I could have stayed all evening. So until next time keep up the great work.
