We had a fantastic get together in The Old Stone House Restaurant last Saturday night. The staff were really attentive, the service was efficient, the food was delicious and very reasonably priced for such high quality. The 15 of us were really well looked after and I would highly recommend The Old Stone House Restaurant. We will definitely return.

Great food

We had Sunday lunch with my parents. The COVID-19 precautions were great, hand sanitiser, staff wearing visors, cutlery in wrapping. However you do not go to restaurants just to see how they are managing during the pandemic so onto the food. Everything was delicious, soup, duck spring roll, leg of lamb, sea bass, baked alaska and chocolate bomb. Service was good, the wine list has plenty of options by the glass and it was great to see the place busy. Cannot wait to return

We had a lovely evening at the Old Stonehouse restaurant, celebrating our daughters birthday The food here is just superb and the staff were so helpful and polite We were also given a complimentary bottle of prosecco for our celebration, which was very much appreciated. Thank you Ray, Mags and your wonderful Staff for making our night so special. See you all very soon again 😊

We got a fabulous takeaway, it was top quality abnd presented so beautifully. The food was full of flavour and was delicious. The service was so good too, even though it was takeaway, the use of their plates and platters, they talked us through all the sauces for each dish. Ten out of ten from us, thanks so much. 💛

Busy Sunday evening during my visit and i appreciate things get lost in translation and under pressure but for 3 Fillet Steaks @ €37.50 ordered Med/Rare to be served well done and just with a side of over cooked dark brown, and I mean dark brown and no sides of veg is absolutely ridiculous. The wait time was only saved by complimentary mini soup cups which was the star of the show. Soup to die for and absolute no attention to the main course. It's a great place don't get me wrong but communication seemed to be an issue

How lucky are the people of Ballinlough and surrounding areas to have this wonderful restaurant on their doorstep. The Old Stonehouse was always great but it just keeps getting better and better under the ownership and management of chefs Mags and Ray, the stylish decor, lovely friendly and professional service, and of course fabulous food sourced locally and organically whenever possible with a great selection of dishes to choose from including many vegan options. There is a varied wine and cocktail menu, or a drink from the bar. If you have not been, try it, I think you'll enjoy the whole experience.

Great food on a very busy night

We were party of twelve dining on a Saturday night we arrived for early sitting the restaurant was already packed and we were seated immediately , drinks arrived promptly food orders were taken and served shortly afterwards ..no delay. Great praise for ribs, steaks and duck and one Coeliac was well accommodated , will be back soon again

Hi Ray, Mags, Marta & team at the Old Stone House. Where do I begin ?! What a fabulous day we had today celebrating our Granny’s 90th birthday, food and service was amazing, we had a very large group of over 60 people and you managed us brilliantly. You were all so accommodating and there was no stone unturned, from personalised menus to our pick of dessert. What a pleasure to have the Old Stone House just kilometres from our home 🏡 We are very lucky! 10/10 ❤️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Veronica & The Tobin’s 🥰

Excellent Enjoyable Evening - Food and Atmosphere

First visit for a family meal this evening, the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere, well spaced out tables. The menu had a lovely variety of dishes. We were shown to our table promptly and enjoyed delicious food, cocktails and wine. There were lots of staff, service of food well presented. A complimentary amuse-bouche served before our main course. There was no pressure from the staff to eat quickly, we finished up with scrumptious deserts. Highly recommend this restaurant for any occassion.

Such a great restaurant

Love this restaurant. The building is beautiful, the people are lovely and the food is just fantastic. I’ve eaten here many times and it has always been five star. So much so that my family came from Co . Meath and Leitrim to try it out and they agreed that this restaurant is well worth the journey. All of the food was delicious so it’s hard to pick a stand out dish but the salmon was described as “the best I’ve ever had “ and does deserve a special mention. Now the rest of the family in Co Wexford have gotten wind of what a little gem this restaurant is and have a visit planned in the near future. Thanks Ray and Mags and all of the lovely Stone House staff. You should be very proud.

We went out for my 60th birthday. Raved to everyone we saw how fab this place was and how much we looked forward to our night out. Ambiance was gorgeous. Waitress was there and attentive. Had drinks and appetisers relight away. The meal was priced for fine dining but the mains were a far cry from it. Salmon was over cooked, served with dry vegan mash( not a vegan meal) My daughter and I both had linguine. The other dish listed Chuli oil. Waitress never said it was spicy. Spicy … whatever….. try not edible. My daughter is still ill from it.! When my husband asked for the manager , he told her , she went to the chef. He could see them have a good laugh then she blanked him on the way back. No way to run a business! With the huge prices restaurants are charging now can we not ask for an edible meal? Best part of dinner was the side of chips and garlic mayo. So sad to have my 60th there😖

Excellent service only topped by delicious meals

We had been planning a visit here for awhile and it was certainly worth the wait. From the initial booking phone until you walk out the door going home the service was excellent, every single member of the team are so genuinely warm and welcoming. The food is delicious and the portions are definitely very generous, we couldn’t find fault with a single dish. It’s the little extras like noticing a child is loving the gravy and bringing a little jug of extra gravy to him that puts this restaurant above so many of its competitors. We are looking forward to our next visit to Marta and all the team and trying more of the menu.

Poor management and standard of service

The food was cold and actually not as ordered. The attitude particularly of the owner / manager was nothing short of appalling. The chef has an aggressive attitude and the manager Mags is completely disrespectful of the customers and some staff... who were on the whole generally good and seemingly doing their best. Probably surviving as a result in zero competition in the area. Anywhere else, they'd have had to close down such is their incompetence. Disappointing as the place was highly recommended...cleary the proof is in the pudding....and that was cold too!

Incredible Tasting Food - Attentive Staff - Great Vibe - All Round Top Notch Experience

11/10 - We came here at the weekend for my mothers 70th Birthday. A week prior I popped in during the day and the owner Mags was there. She sat me down gave me coffee and listened to my requests, very nice lady and runs a great place along with her husband. The food was beautiful, the staff were very attentive always, ensuring everyone was looked after. It has a very nice atmosphere and for the high quality of food they provide, the prices are more than reasonably. I would like to thanks everyone in there, everyone left complimenting the fine evening we had. i can tell you if this restaurant was in Dublin city, it would be one of the top ones recommended to dine at. Added bonus when your owners are also your chefs you are guaranteed the love goes into the food and that what we felt. thanks everyone at the stonehouse, we will be back again :)

Table was booked for special occasion over the Christmas period. The booking was taken over the phone the week prior by a young member of staff. Upon arrival to the restaurant, the party was told that no booking was ever made. A few days later, an email was sent outlining what had happened and no response was received. Very disappointing.
