Decided to dine at this restaurant though there were no other customers. Pleasantly surprised that the food was prepared and served to us very quickly. It was good and fresh though I find it a bit pricey for Asian standard.

Normally you shy away from unknown less salubrious restaurants but a Swiss couple dining inside encouraged us to try Guan Guan and we were very pleasantly surprised at the choice and ultimate quality of the food served. Ordering fried rice my eyes lit up when I saw the size of the shrimp (prawns) littered throughout the rice. It was delicious... More

Looking for a breakfast we found this little restaurant, just along the main street in Ferengi. An older woman was cleaning the terrace and invited us to take the breakfast. The terrace looked inviting, cosy, clean and comfortable. 4/5. The menu was surprising too, Malay dishes, Chinese dishes and western dishes, a lot of choice! My wife ordered a bali... More

We chanced upon this little gem and ended up eating here 3 times in one Week! The homemade spring rolls with a special sauce were the best I have ever had..chock full of fresh vegetables and perfectly fried. Tonight we had noodles (excellent), and garlic prawns lightly battered and crisped to perfection. Ricky and Lan are wonderful hosts, always smiling... More

On the first meeting of such friendly staff we met the owner who was 72. He was very friendly. We had fried rice and satay chicken. And a icy cold beer with a good old fashioned stubby holder from Australia. The meal was good. I would recommend.

We only stopped at this cafe for a drink as we had had a late lunch and weren't particularly hungry. The thing that attracted us to the cafe was the really friendly host who invited us to try the cafe. He had the warmest smile and manner of any restaurant worker I saw in Penang! My pineapple juice was delicious... More

I had the pleasure of stopping by when I first got to Penang 3 weeks ago. Since then I have come here nearly everyday when old uncle is working. My parents love the place. I've read that some people have had a bad experience but it really does depend on when you go.. the cheerful upbeat uncle that works there... More
