Bjork and his husband run this lovely restaurant. She welcomes the guest and he cooks homemade local food. Taste is simple but authentic. The atmosphere is great, cozy and easy. Waiting for you meal, you can go on the rooftop of the restaurant and enjoy the beautifull view on the fjord. A big deal!

We enjoyed our meal so much we went back the next evening. Delicious home cooked food at reasonable prices. Wish I had tried the "Troll" (mushroom) soup - some other guests at our hotel were still talking about how good it was over breakfast the next day! Not only will you get a good meal here but the restaurant itself... More

Unfortunately, we did not have the opportunity to eat here. After a long day of travel, we were excited to stop by Me Snaakest for one of their famous burgers, but unfortunately we were met by the owner and chef who informed us it would be impossible to get a seat at 7:30pm because the restaurant was fully booked (eventhough... This is a great little place with wonderful food reasonably priced. The food is home cooked. The owners were very nice and the atmosphere with all the art was great. We ate upstairs which had a view but was a little warm.

Lovely food and good value. The fish soup was the best! Service was very good. Owners friendly, chatty and interesting. Great to see Arthur's collection of memorabilia as well as both his and Bjorg's art work. Finished evening with a complimentary coffee in the crystal dome! Unfortunately there are currently building works outside - DON'T be put off - its... More

We had a tasty seafood soup appetizer, then the delicious pan fried salmon. Afterwards we went upstairs to the crystal dome for free coffee and ordered a piece of cake that is called the world's best cake. It was good. The service was good too.

Good food all cooked fresh with a home made feel to it. The restaurant itself is entertainment with a free museum upstairs and art gallery adjoining. Good value.

I had the pork with gravy and it was delicious. The owner was delightful to talk to, an artist, very interesting and great sense of humor. We could not have enjoyed this more. Our experience at this restaurant was part of an overall wonderful time in Balestrand. What a shame that people take the nutshell tour and miss this town.... More

but very slow service! We had to wait 25 min for our drinks on a slow night... The food was great! Nice moose-karbonader and salmon. The cakes homebaked and very good!

The waiter told us just how long we would have to wait before they could take our order (I appreciated that). Sometimes the service is "down home" (they run out of things), but all the choices were delicious--fish soup, homestyle meatballs, traditional foods, and fresh fruit that was not spoiled by over-preparation (just simple whipped cream globbed on the top)....
