So good we went there twice!

Restaurant so good we ended up here twice in our week holiday. The first time we didn’t book and were sat out the front of the restaurant and the second time we did book and were sat in the garden. Wherever you sit the food is just as good so it’s neither here nor there but the garden is just slightly more secluded. The restaurant is a five minute walk out of the town but well worth it. Lovely (what appears to be) family run restaurant. Staff as so friendly and helpful and as well as a full Greek menu they have daily specials. The first time we visited we had starters and mains and it was about 50euros for 3 people including a litre of wine. The second time, similar price, but this time we had six appetizers as a tapas of sorts. Make sure you order something from the oven the veg and potatoes are great. Make sure it’s on your list of eat outs whilst in Malia- brilliant restaurant!

Absolutely divine

Definitely worth the 17 minute walk into the old town up a side street to find this amazing restaurant. So much so that we went back there last night for the 2nd time! Service was impeccable, the waiter was great, they accommodated our slightly fussy 6 yr old brilliantly, explained the best thing to have off the menu as we were undecided between a few dishes ! And served GREAT CRETAN WINE! the first place that seems to ! As vegetarian parents we were completely catered for and the yoghurt cake they serve gratis at The eNd of the meal Is def worth a try. All In all a must visit if in Malia.

Genuine restaurant built on superb food

Lovely little establishment, with superb food, place is dated in style but traditional it has an honest feel with a welcoming atmosphere. Take your pick from the basic but traditional menu if your lucky enough to get something from the oven don't hesitate dive in and avoid disappointment, good home style cooking at its best. No review would be complete without mentioning the service and staff which are faultless in every aspect. Go there and fill your boots and enjoy !

Beautiful Taverna

Take a left at Zorbas excellent Pizza Restaurant up in the old town and in 5 minutes you will find this beautiful traditional Tavern with outdoor tables and excellent food, service, prices and cleanliness. It has locals and visitors in equal numbers,, always a good sign. My favorite after 10 years of visiting Malia

Best restaurant and dedicated service

Almost all restaurants I tried in Malia, this one is the most typical and better because of the quality of its menu and also specific and typical plates of Crete you only find there. Lamb cooked in wine, etc... The staff is very nice and helpful to choose...finally, we came there twice and let them choose what to have for dinner and anytime it was a very good experience.

Fantastic food

This was just down from our Happy Days Apartments and we walked by some evenings always busy. So one evening we went in , nearly full but had socially distant tables in a lovely setting outside. Atmosphere, food and service was brilliant, apart from the main and good red house wine we received free bread starter with dips and a free yogurt/fruit desert which was better than some we paid for elsewhere. Lovely food well cooked flavoursome . This is a small family run restaurant though it seats about 50 , we had very good meals at some of the newer bigger Main Street old town place’s and I recommend you try both

Excellent. Massive portions

Stumbled upon Milos on our first night in Malia. The garden terrace is lovely and the service amazing. We were hungry so ordered mezze and mains but the portions were massive and could have just had one or the others. Really good traditional food. Well worth going to.

The best in Malia

A fantastic friend family run restaurant, everything you would expect from a Greek resto experience. We ate in several highly rated places in Malia but George and his team were super friendly and the food was delicious. IMHO it is because they are not as big as the commercial restaurants, they can deliver that extra special service. The others suffer by comparison and this restaurant is the choice of the local people, which speaks volumes. They have a small play area for children and speak several languages. Highly recommended!!

Outstanding, best food ever!!!

Outstanding!!! The best food I’ve tasted. Our waiter was impressive, spoke to us in English and a different table in German as well as speaking Greek. Talked us through the menu and advised us on a few dishes. The stuffed vine leaves (made by the waiters grandmother) were delicious. Stuffed mushrooms and mince stuffed aubergine were equally as good but the slow cooked lamb and potatoes were WOW!!! The lamb fell off the bone and the potatoes soaked up all the juices, it really left us wanting more and we will certainly be back before the end of our holiday, I just wish we’d found it earlier. €55 for the 3 small dishes and the lamb main with 1 lite house wine and 2 beers, worth every cent

Can still feel the stickiness of the lamb, slow cooked in their oven in the garden. Never tire of the Cretan food, and when it’s as well executed as this place, that’s why. Leave some space for the afters, a panna cotta style yoghurt cake, you’ll be licking the plate like me!

Superb Food and Great traditional Greek atmosphere

We had eaten here a few years ago and wanted to return as we remembered what a great little place this is. It is a bit out of the way, through the Old Town and a bit of a walk but well, well worth it. My advice is even if there are only two of you book a table. It’s always busy and they only have a small number of tables. They serve traditional Greek food which is superb. Lots of flavour and all cooked in the oven over a long period of time. The plates are designed to share and they place them in the centre of the table and you get to sample different dishes. The best dishes we had was the lamb, chicken in the oven, chicken swish and the spicy chicken. The selection of starters we had were amazing, even the salad had such wonderful flavours and colours. The vegetables were all fresh and so lovely. The service was fantastic and the waiters are so helpful and nice. We sat there for hours eating, enjoying the wine and the company and atmosphere. It has a lovely setting and the garden where you eat is intimate and lovely. It may be a bit of a walk but you have to give this place a try, it’s worth the walk or the small taxi fare to get there. You know it is good when you see so many locals.

The BEST

After spotting this restaurant's name on our hotel's page as a nearby option we decided to check it and oh my goodness - this place is a perfection. A little, cosy family run restaurant and lives above and beyond your expectations. Portions are generous, food is absolutely delicious and friendly service tops it all up. We ate here on 2 different nights and couldn't fault it at all. Lamb, rabbit, chicken, beef stifado are to die for. Their signature salad is nothing like you'll have anywhere else in Crete. The yoghurt cake you get served at the end is mum's secret recipe and it's absolutely dreamy.. I wish they had a restaurant in Chania so we could visit again upon our return next year. Thank you so much for our amazing dining experiences!

Another gem worth looking for.

Super food and service. Although the menu is not very big, all the food we ate was excellent. Being good at a few things is better than being average at lots of things Very nice relaxed setting. Not expensive by comparison. You can get cheaper meals off the strip but you won't get the quality or experience of eating here. One tip, save some room for the cheesecake, it's delicious.

The outside courtyard is a beautiful place to enjoy the superb food they serve here. The wine was very good ( in comparison to other places in Crete ). Every plate of food ( and we ordered lots ) was tasty and a good sized portion. My children are vegetarians and they had more choices than they could hope for. The service was so good and the staff were friendly. All 5 of us loved it. Definitely book in advance so you’re not disappointed

I think this restaurant is sometimes overlooked as it is a 3 or 4 minute walk from the edge of the old town. But the people who do come here, come regularly and for good reason. The food is simple, tasty and good value. Service is friendly and efficient. I have never had a bad meal here. Make the effort, walk up and try it. You won’t regret it.
